Getting settled

This village was.... interesting. Not in a bad way, exactly, even though it didn't look like home, but this place was better than the last one he'd found himself in. He'd claimed a house a bit up the cliff face, where he could look out over the village, and he was sure eventually he wouldn't be the only inhabitant.

After all, this place seemed as baffling as the last. But, he was sure, he'd still get found by the ones who mattered eventually.

Thus, he settled himself under a tree, back leaned against it, as he nibbled some local dango.

"Huh. That's not a bad thing. It'd be a nice change from talking to you and Neji all the time. You guys couldn't make a straight sentence if I drew a line for you."

He stared at her for a very very long moment. "I wish you luck."

She hums quietly, clearly amused. "What's Black Ops doing running around where you can find him, though? You said he's from my timeline?"

[youngesthokage]

"He has to be. I believe his exact words were that I was a traitorous cocksucker." His tone was rather deadpan as he said this. "He didn't come up with any new insults for me personally after that though he seemed to have a great deal of them for Sasuke."

She bursts out laughing when she hears Itachi use the word 'cocksucker', covering her mouth with both hands as the sound sends a few birds into flight from the tree above. "Did he really?" She can't quite stifle her laughter completely, bringing one hand to her eye to wipe away a tear. "I think I like him."

"Yes he really. He honestly didn't realize what the implications of it were. I asked him, he gave me a definition, then seemed confused at why I asked." He shook his head with a smile. "I believe he just likes to show off his vocabulary."

"I've got to meet this guy." Her smile reaches all the way to her eyes, thoroughly amused at the concept. "It's too bad I haven't met him before. Though you know, maybe he is from your Konoha and just doesn't like you very much."

He seemed to consider it. "No, no he's not. He was quite on board the Sasuke bashing train, and is apparently on a team with Naruto currently to replace him."

She has to muffle another laugh when the other looks to be honestly considering it before lowering her hands to her knees, humming to herself. "Yeah, that didn't happen for me. Or at least, not yet. I haven't seen Naruto for... almost three years now. Or, well," she has to pause to fix that statement. "Not counting the break in timeline, of course."

He nodded slightly to show his understanding. "Naruto didn't come back to the village until then so perhaps it's meant to be soon?"

"I guess so... sounds like I missed out." She gives a mock-sigh of deep sorrow before her smile comes back to her face. "Well, I'm sure I'll run into him sometime."

Though after a moment, her smile fades as she draws another kunai, using the point worry at one of her fingernails.

"If you're here long enough, right?"

"Mm." It's quiet as she continues to worry at her nails before casting him a glance. "So that guy called Sai is the only one you've met here, right?"

[youngesthokage]

"Him and you, thus far, though I picked up a couple signatures when I got up this morning so I know there have to be others now."

[bunsofsteel]

"I met someone," she murmurs quietly, the entirety of her attention on her kunai. "Not here. I don't even know if it's going to be connected, but..."

He reached over and rested his hand on her wrist. "But?"

She goes still at his touch, her body already tense before he even reached her, and switches the kunai to her other hand, rubbing her thumb along the one of the flat sides of the blade. "Do you know anything about some guy called Pain?"

[youngesthokage]

"Only in passing. I don't know any details beyond the name and that he's associated with Akatsuki."

[bunsofsteel]

"Akatsuki..." There's only so much she knows about them, but... that makes sense. She closes her eyes and lets out a quiet sigh through her nose, glancing down at the kunai. "Did Sai mention anything about what his Konoha was like?"

"No, and I didn't ask. That would have been breaking etiquette for someone like him."

[bunsofsteel]

"But calling you a cocksucker isn't?" She snorts a humorless laugh through her nose, staring at the kunai. "But... well, it's probably nothing."

[youngesthokage]

"I sincerely doubt it's nothing. Next time you see one of the older people of Konoha from your agemates... ask."

[bunsofsteel]

"I did." Almost unconsciously, she draws both knees up and keeps the kunai across both of them, staring straight ahead. Another pause, and she forces a laugh, turning her head to give him an obviously strained smile. "Don't worry about it, though, really."

He pulled her hand to him and kissed her palm gently. "Think carefully on what you learned. I might be able to set some fears to rest."

Even that sweet gesture isn't enough to bleed the tension from her form, though she does curl her fingers lightly to brush against his skin. "It's alright. I already know he's not from your world, since Tsunade-sama was his Hokage."
