[Open] Happy Birthday! Now have some thunder and snow...
He had heard about the mystical elements called thunder and snow before, but this was his first time seeing it.
And he was sorely unprepared.
None of the buildings around him looked like the ones in Suna. Gaara walked down the path with hesitant steps, while skittishly looking every which way. Clasped within his two small hands was the arm of a teddy bear, clutched tightly to his chest. Every time there was a loud crash of thunder, he jumped, and so did his sand. One particularly loud clap close by shot panic into the young boy, and he immediately bolted for the nearest shelter.
Gaara huddled in the dark corner, peeking out every so often at the tumultuous sky. A small whimper escaped, and he quickly covered his mouth. He couldn’t be scared. He had to be strong! What if Father was watching him from somewhere? Maybe this was a test, to see how brave he could be.
It was getting cold, even colder than desert nights. He tugged the tunic closer around his body and drew his knees up, hiding his face behind them.

Gah how did I not see this sooner?
Which isn't what he could say for the kid he'd just found. "Hey, hey you okay?"
*is a ninja* :D
Gaara looked up, surprised to hear someone talking to him. He didn't recognize the other boy. Was he an ally or enemy? Better to be careful, just in case.
"Um..." he thought about how his father would want him to answer, like not giving away any weaknesses. "I'm waiting for the snow to stop..."

He pointed outside at the falling flakes. "It's cold outside... and wet too. This must be what rain feels like..."

Gaara blinked, and glanced at the other boy with a frown of confusion. This was strange... no one except Father and Yashamaru ever came near him. He was definitely not from Suna.
"I'm sure Father is here..." Hopefully, Yashamaru too. "Um... I'm Gaara."

“Father is our Kazekage,” he replied with pride, “He takes care of everyone in the Sand Village.”

Drops nee-san in
A whimper stopped her in tracks and she glanced around. It sounded... like a child. Maybe she was hearing things?
The one last squint into the dark got her eyes widen- that was- it was-
"G-Gaara?"
Nee-saaaaaaaaaaaaan~
“Yashamaru?” He immediately got up to his feet, scrambling to run over to his uncle’s side.
When he was a few steps away, he realized it wasn’t Yashamaru after all. Hesitantly, Gaara started backing away, clutching tightly onto his teddy bear to feel some sense of protection. Who was this strange lady that apparently knew him? He didn’t recognize her, and it was too dark and elevated for him to see the back of her head.

She crouched, not moving towards him- she didn't want to frighten him even more.
"No Gaara, it's me, Temari." She slowly outstretched arms towards him, beckoning him to come closer:"Don't worry. It's only me, nee-san."
