[Open] Finally, good news.

When she'd gotten home the other night it had been to the horrible news that her eldest Itachi had had a complete meltdown and she hadn't been there to help. Unfortunately, she simply didn't have the ability to be home all at once, but it did put it in her mind that her and Kushina needed to have a talk if the woman intended to go around breaking her babies.

She was hardly the only one she needed to speak to though, and she heaved an agitated sigh, trying to sort out what to do.

She hesitated a moment. "I love my boys, both of them, but I would have waited."

"How come...?"

[proudofmybaby]

"I was about to go in for ANBU testing."

[bunsofsteel]

"Oh..." Her fingers stayed at her necklace as she glanced to the table, swallowing hard. "Does that mean it's impossible to be a kunoichi and a mother...?"

[proudofmybaby]

"No. It just means that you have to decide how big of a risk you're willing to take with little ones expecting you to come home."

[bunsofsteel]

"...Mm. That's what I've always thought, too." Her shoulders slumped a little, then she forced a smile, trying to change the subject. "But how are things around the house? Neji and Lee behaving themselves?"

She gave her a knowing look, the laughed. "They've been amusing. Lee was sprinting around in Neji-kun's things for a while."

[bunsofsteel]

She huffed a quick laugh, shaking her head. "Yeah, I saw that. Well, heard more like, when he was running and yelling for forgiveness from Gai-sensei. Besides that, though."

"They've been alright. Neji's got himself a beau."

[bunsofsteel]

"Does he, now?" Now that she hadn't heard about, leaving her leaning in. "Is it Ino?"

"No, no, it's my oldest daughter, actually."

[bunsofsteel]

"Sasuke?" Her eyes widened as her lips formed into an 'O' of surprise. "After everything that happened, really...? I missed a lot, then."

"I don't know what started them off but they've been courting for weeks."

[bunsofsteel]

"Really." Her expression rather hinted to just how dearly she wanted to tease Neji now, but she held her tongue in front of her pseudo-mother-in-law. "I had no idea, but if they're happy, I'm happy."

"It will be interesting to see how everyone sorts themselves out."

[bunsofsteel]

"Neji and Sasuke... if we were back home, you know people would say the two rookie geniuses belong together," she mused, tapping a finger against her lips. "But... I'm glad. Neji's a great guy in spite of himself, so I know he won't do anything to hurt her. Intentionally, anyway."

"I know. He's a good boy. My youngest Itachi really adores him."

[bunsofsteel]

"I've meet him a few times." Another smile then as she looked to the older woman. "How it is, having a Hyuuga training your kids? I know he can be pretty strict sometimes."

She blinked, then made a noise of amusement. "Ah, you mean in that he actually makes the boys stop training? It's refreshing. Ibiki-kun never had the time to do that with Itachi, so seeing Neji sitting on him to make him stop is refreshing."

[bunsofsteel]

A laugh as she shook her head. "Yeah, that sounds like him. Start training at a certain time, end training at a certain time, make sure there're regulated breaks for everything... Totally not like Lee at all. I guess that's why we all work together well as a team, huh?"

"True. If Itachi had his way the child would just go until he fell over."

[bunsofsteel]

Another laugh. "I guess he never grows out of that, then. Sasuke and I have to drag him home from his work sometimes." Her expression softened at the thought, even as she shook her head in exasperation.

"Yes, well, he's Itachi. He's never been good at moderation when it concerns his own health. I once heard Yuugao-chan muttering about him nearly fainting on a mission because he forgot to eat for three days."

[bunsofsteel]

"Yuugao...?" That's a name she wasn't sure she was familiar with, and it shows as she tilted her head. "A former teammate of his?"

"I'm almost completely certain he was her ANBU captain."
