[Open] After a thorough trouncing courtesy of Uchiha Madara...
He could not recall having ever been in so much pain in his life; even the extraction of Shukaku, while agonizing on every level, had eventually faded when his mind simply refused to process the pain any longer. That had felt like every single one of his nerves was on fire, chakra pathways alight and slowly being shredded to pieces as the ichibi was taken from him and he was left to die - which he had, though he'd eventually gotten better.
This was so much worse, because he was aware of every ounce of blood that seeped out of the gaping hole in his chest, the multiple lacerations, the way he was fairly certain those white things puncturing his chest were his ribs. Madara had toyed with him - with all five kage - before finally deciding to end the game. He was dying, he knew that - but he did wish he had been allowed to at least see his siblings one last time.
Tsunade-hime had tried to heal the other kage, and it had worked to some extent - he'd seen the Raikage shift and open his eyes, watched Mei-dono slowly roll over, saw the stubborn old Tsuchikage draw in a hacking, life-giving breath. But when the soothing chakra had reached for him, there had been something like an odd barrier, a vague sort of increase in pressure, and then darkness.
Which led to this point - a semi-conscious redhead lying on the outskirts of this strange village, the ground under him practically drinking that blood.

Argh. Wrong Gaara. -.-
It was a struggle to open his eyes, though, and when he did all he got was a vague impression of pink. It was such an uncommon shade that he immediately decided it belonged to a certain prodigy of Tsunade-hime, though why she was here he didn't know. It did explain why the chakra that touched him was mostly familiar, though. ...he couldn't tell that she wasn't a 'she' yet, okay.

Still, his breathing was easier and the pain had faded to something that...well, it wasn't exactly bearable, but no longer was he in quite the state of agony. The Kazekage opened his eyes again, vision a little clearer, and looked to the medic. Pink hair confirmed his earlier suspicion but...
Haruno-san didn't have much of a bust to begin with, but there was no mistaking this person for a woman. So his first statement in this place was, understandably, "...what."

Alarm swept through the redhead at that statement, though. "-ah, are you all right?" Pardon the fact that he can't do more than a whisper, and having just tried to move and found that it hurt like a bitch, pardon that he's not sitting up.

"Gaara!" Temari screamed, running over to her brother before she'd stopped to think, trying to patch him up with her chakra the way that Sakumo-kun had showed her. "Please, don't die. Please."
She was frantically trying to at least get the bleeding to stop so she could find help or carry him to one of the actual healers in the village. "Goddammit!"

Then soothing, healing chakra washed through him and suddenly he was unsure. Even through his addled thoughts, he knew that his sister was not an iryou-nin. But the chakra that swept through him was familiar; he knew his sister's chakra. So even though it was a tremendous effort to open his eyes, he did so, if only a tiny little sliver. No, there really was no mistaking that hairstyle. "...Temari," he mumbled softly, barely above a whisper.

Despite that, the tiniest of smiles touched his lips at her statement. It was so undeniably something his sister would say; if this was a hallucination, brought on before death, it was an accurate one. The pain did not fade, but slowly the blood flow was slowing. The wound in his chest had missed both heart and lungs; he suspected it had been done on purpose, for a slow and agonizing death.
But, hallucination or not, his sister was here, and he was...all right with that.

However, she was back to work, pulling out her tessen and making it lie out flat. It would work as a stretcher, until she could get him to one of the healers in the village. But, the gaping wound in his midsection was still alarming. The fact that she could see his internal organs was....horrifying.
Without thinking, she ripped off her jacket, using a kunai to shred it into the right size to be bandaging before she set to trying to make sure he was okay.
She'd cry later, when Gaara was safe and Shikamaru was there to make sure no one else saw her that weak. "C'mon, Gaara.... Nee-san's gotta move you. Stay with me, okay?"
OHGOD THAT ICON. /melts
Even after he'd decided to make the change, it had been difficult to see his siblings as family. But they'd managed, and sometimes... Sometimes he just watched them with that gentle little smile, amazed at how he, of all people, had such amazing siblings. They supported him almost without question and that... That was nice.
He clung to consciousness now, afraid that drifting would send him permanently to sleep, and though the pain was still horrendous, he could feel the touch of his sister's callused fingers as a makeshift bandage tightened around him.
He opened his eyes a little again, to let her know he was still here, but he wasn't looking forward to being moved.
Ikr?
As carefully as she could, she slid her tessen under him and summoned the wind currents nearby to direct him towards Sakura's clinic since she was closer than Sakumo. "Fuck," she swore under her breath. "I swear, one of these days I'm not going to need that pink-haired girl's help."
OMGYES
He still hissed at the movement, but it was the only sound he made as his sister settled him on the huge fan. It was definitely better than be carried any other way, and the wind currents would be steadier than hands. Her voice was so far away, but he still vaguely understood what she meant; pink hair could only mean Haruno, which implied that Temari was taking him to see a medic. Which didn't make a lot of sense, since Haruno was with the short-range division, but...
Time to stop questioning things and just go the fuck to sleep.
OMG! STOP DYING!
"SAKURA!" She yelled, pounding on the door. "HELP!"

She led her to the scene of Gaara lying on top of her tessen, his chest wrapped as best she could and Sakumo passed out next to him. "He wasn't here when I left Gaara," she said stupidly before she went to pick up one of her brother's hands and check his vitals.
"Hey, Gaara, I'm back with Sakura," she said softly near his ears. "You need to wake up, okay?"

Honestly, what was he going to do in this case? Temari had gone to find help, presumably, and he didn't even have his sand; his chakra was too low to maintain the gourd shape, and whatever had happened had separated him from his weapon. With nothing to hold his attention, his slipped into a doze.
It wasn't until fingers slid around his wrist that his eyelashes fluttered and, slowly, lifted. He stared uncomprehendingly at his sister for a long moment; with her closer, he could tell that it was indeed Temari. "...why are...you here...?" he asked, unaware of the second pink-haired medic on the scene.

"Where else would I be when you're injured like this, Gaara? You can't possibly think that I wouldn't want to help you."

Instead, his attention went back to Temari. "...you were meant to be nearly a day's journey away, with the forces that had gone to support Naruto..." His brow furrowed, but some of the lines around his mouth and eyes - strained due to the pain - were starting to ease as Sakura worked.
