[OPEN] A Genius Without a Purpose

The Hyuuga genius was good at many things. Taijutsu, ninjutsu, insight and analyzation -- he could do it all and then some.

Adapting to changes in battle situations or simulations was one thing. Adapting to the fact that he was trapped in this nowhere village without a single member of his clan, his team, or anything even remotely close to what he was used to? Something else entirely. Suffice to say Neji wasn't taking it as well as he could have been.

Presently, he was sitting in the middle of a nearby park fuming to himself, trying to discern just what to do from here. Arms crossed over his chest, he didn't even bother to attempt meditation, just glowered at his surroundings at large.

"Defect to whom?" Neji's not about to let that point go, even when he stares at the Haruno medic, almost daring her to come after him again. It doesn't make sense; sure, the Uchiha wasn't in his class, but they were still close enough in age that the idea of one of their number becoming a missing-nin was hard to imagine.

"My business with Hinata-sama is the business of the Hyuuga Clan," he says finally, gaze never wavering from her face. The corners of his eyes narrow. "How can you be Sakura?"

Sasuke was forcing himself to speak by that point, leaning against Sakura where he could as he felt himself sliding further away, "She didn't say... Only that I was coerced..."

That was the last of his feasible effort as he finally became unconscious, ragged breaths evening out while it felt like whatever was blocking his lungs from functioning properly had cleared.

Sakura heaved a sigh, shaking her head. "Figures. He'll be all questions later."

She looked to Neji as she continued to work. "Unless it happens to you, it's team seven business Neji-san. I can be Sakura because I've always been Sakura. I'm just older than you now, that's all, and I can't wait for you to grow out of this phase again, let me tell you."

He frowns at her for a long moment, then gives an abbreviated chop of a nod. Very well, if she insisted on keeping it to herself, he would ensure she keeps her nose out of Hyuuga business.

"You keep saying 'grow out of.' What do you mean by that?"

"I mean that you stopped being... like you are now. You actually learned how to -smile- and be -happy-. I've seen you." She looked him over. "I'd almost forgotten how much of a jerk you were when we first met."

He just stares at her for a long moment, his eyebrows furrowed in another frown, then he finally pushes himself fully upright, crossing both arms over his chest with a contemptuous snort. "I do not know who you are speaking of, but I can assure you that the person you describe is not me. I am not fated to ever be as such."

"You can't see the future." She shook her head sharply. "If you could, you would be a very different person now."

The corners of his eyes narrow as his lip curls in disdain. "You cannot see the past. There's a reason I am as I am now." Giving Sasuke a final glance, Neji just shakes his head and turns to head elsewhere. "Thank you for the healing."

"I know. I know part of the reason, and I know you found out something about it that changed your feelings about things. -That- I don't know about though, you're right." She watched his back. "I hope you find your way again Neji."
