Sundrop Flowers

Finally, after a rather wet week, the rain seemed to ease off, turning from heavy downpour to a light patter that from time to time actually let some sun through. The curious thing was that it was only in these patches of light that flowers started to blossom all over the village, bright yellow and comfortable floating on the surface of the flood runoff in spite of the current.

Unlike the last batch of blossoms, these seemed to cheer the locals, causing shops to go into overdrive as they started to get goods and put new recipes on their menus. There also seemed to be a judicious application of ribbons being to absolutely everything.

Waterproofed, of course.

It seemed that the newest flowers were cause for the spring festival, being the sign that winter was decisively over, and everyone was preparing for the next break in the rain with eager expectation.
