He'd been doing his part for Lee's most recent genjutsu, which apparently called for him to be a princess today. Fine, so he could be Nejiko-hime until Lee's point was made! No problem. He could hold an umbrella over himself for the dramatic part of the scene and it would work out.

Still, he'd sighed and closed his eyes, because Lee wasn't being convincing at all today, but when he opened his eyes! It was no good, suddenly all the props were gone and the water falling on him wasn't coming from a hose. Where did everyone go?

He turned in a circle, activating his Byakugan as he spun the sunny red parasol on his hands, but no! No Tenten, no Lee?

DID LEE MANAGE A REAL GENJUTSU?!

The idea stymied him, because that wasn't the point of their show! That made no sense.

Freeing a hand, he put it to his head, trying to understand what just happened.

He gave another glance around, then back. "This is not a trick of Lee's?"

"No. I also never had Lee do any 'tricks' save for failing wonderfully to beat me, but this must be the same in all timelines." so yeah, what trick? Enlighten him, Lee cannot do a thing.

He frowned at him for a moment, then tilted his head, looking toward the sky. "Narrator-san, do you have an explanation for this?"

It was obvious that an answer was expected, and he looked more put upon than anything.

Neji blinked a few times, then looked up. Activating his byakugan, he saw nothing but birds, so quickly let it fade. "I have no idea who this narrator-san is, but he is not in this world, most likly."

"...How is that even possible?" He looked back to him, sighing. "Narrator-san never leaves."

"As impossible as it might sound, he did not leave, he simply did not come with you." ...okay, was he an idiot in another world? And.. this.. wasn't a girl. Definitely could not be.

"...That's it, I'm changing back into my normal clothes. This is ridiculous. You can explain more when I'm not in skit attire." He huffed a breath, looking unimpressed with everything, and slipped into a spin... only to be in his normal clothes a moment later, even the parasol gone, replaced with a normal umbrella. "Now. You were saying?"

"..." skit attire? No really, what was-- how did he do that? This was some sort of kaiten-like spin but faster and suddenly he was just...

Palm, meet face.

"By the nine heavens and seven hells! I did not just see that." no, he did not. "...if you need me to repeat, you should ahve been listening more accutely."

"You were being so far off script you were making no sense." He sighed and gave him a stern frown. "You can't be me, because the flashback me and normal one never end up on camera together."

He gave a scowl. "Off-script? What are you even saying?" flashback!? "I am not a flashback, I am real, and you -are- me! If you've even listened to a word I said, I stated this was not wherever you are from!" Oh he was not liking this. At all.

He heaved a sigh and gave him a really long, hard stare. "Oh no. You're from Naruto aren't you? That explains everything! I'm from the other show."

"... this explains absolutely nothing, and I-- I'm not from-- This is the most disgusting thought I have ever had!" he gripped at his head. Please make it go! "Can your words possibly make less sense!?"

"They make perfectly adequate sense if you but pay attention..." He heaved a deep sigh, giving him a disappointed stare. "Though your lack of awareness is... obviously not your fault."

"Lack of awareness? How about your own lack of making sense?" he thought he was a genius, but obviously not all timelines share that. "It also fails to explains the earlier getup."

"It was for one of Lee's genjutsu in the show. Tenten calls them skits." He waved a hand to brush that off. "If you're from the original series you wouldn't really know about that."

Neji was still staring flatly, unconvinced. Lee? Genjutsu? Skits? "So, in your world, Lee apparently likes to see people crossdress? I pray I never met him here." what crazy world is that version of him coming from? "Original series?" break the fourth wall more, eh... sort of doesn't get it.

"What? No!... Yes. That just is what happens!" He waved it off. "The skits always serve a purpose, especially when we have to deal with Orochimaru. Again. The man just never gets the hint." He sighed at this point, shaking his head.

"In any case, yes. If we're not entertaining we'll be cancelled! A horrible fate for any spin off."

He rose a hand to his forehead and groaned. This made no sense. "Well, you hardly are entertaining me, and I don't believe we can ever get each other's point, so i will be over there pretending we have never met." this would definitely be best.

"You're main series, it's not your fault you are the way you are. I understand entirely."

"Well thank you for being understanding. I will pretend I have some sanity left now." because really, he cannot make sense of anything you said, otherNeji!

Had he really been that obnoxious before he was branched away? No wonder Lee always stuck him in dresses. It was probably a weird sort of revenge. "That I sincerely doubt."

He gave a scowl, but decided he was done, and wisely walked away. This could lead to nothing good.
