There may be nothing to feel, but in there, his tiny little future was already growing. He reached back up again to stroke her hair, dark eyes not quite focussed as he pictured that brightest of futures. Now, her image was clearer than ever before, almost like some angel made of pure light. "I... feel like I am in a dream, but... I know it's real."
"I assure you that it is quite real," she murmured in response, wrapping both arms around him and leaning in to rest her head against his shoulder. "I will do what I can to prevent this from interfering too much with daily life, but please forgive me for things I am unable to control."
"I'll forgive anything. Everything... I will." he kissed her neck, holding her tightly. "I promise. Besides, I probably went through worse with Menma's oddities." no, really, how bad could it get. "I swear, this guy liked to use me to see if his seals were working... I don't think you can get me to be a toad for three days -or- bear with anything salty tasting sweet for... oh 'however long till I figure out how to unseal it' and those aren't the worse."
She laughed quietly and rested more comfortably against him, letting herself relax into his hold. "Nothing quite that bad, I assure you. I came across nothing in my research to suggest that I would involuntarily use jutsu against you, have no fear of that."
"Oh, that makes me feel better. Menma is still the scariest guy in existence then~" he snickered and shifted lightly so she would be more comfortable within him.
"We can start... preparing a room already, you think?" oh was he excited at the thought. A family...
He claimed a deep breath, eyes closing a few seconds There was this matter indeed... "Shouldn't it be Hyuuga? After all, I'm pretty sure it'll inherit your eyes." and as much as he wished for the Uchiha rebirth, somehow, "If this isn't any issue and name shouldn't be linked to any dojutsu, then... we can decide on which would suit our child more?" after all, he couldn't refuse any name, since historically, both clans were prominent in Konoha.
She blinked, slowly, as if to take the measure of her own eyes, before slowly shaking her head. "I do not feel it is right to claim the child entirely for our clan when you are as much a part of his or her life as I am.
"It... may be possible, to allow the child to introduce him or herself as a member belonging to both clans."
He blinked at that. "It is? That... is the first time I hear anything like this. It's an interesting idea though. It'd be Uchiha-Hyuuga then... or Hyuuga-Uchiha?" he frowned. "Hmm.. the first sounds like it's easier on the ears but I might be biased. On paper though, if you write it, I,d say the second option wins..."
"Hyuuga-Uchiha flows far more easily off the tongue due to the ending syllable, but either way it is written, it will be kanji directly next to hiragana and will not look right at all."
She shifted to pull a small notebook from her pouch, drawing both their family names beside each other: 日向 and うちは. 日向・うちは or うちは・日向, neither looked correct.
"'Of' could perhaps be utilized," she suggested quietly, staring down at their names on the paper. "A child of both the Hyuuga clan and the Uchiha clan."
She was right, it looked pretty terrible. Maybe his imagination had made it look far more pretty. "Total bias, that's what it was." after all, it really should be Hyuuga first.
"Hmmm~ That -does- sound really grand. Then again, well, it's our future, so.. anything'll sound grand." he admitted with a light chuckle. We can go with that, and... when or she's older... can just choose to go with both or either one..."
There was a pause, and then, almost shyly, "...did you think of any names since you heard?"
She lightly tapped her pencil against the paper and gazed at it, cheeks coloring lightly. "I have not thought of a name yet, no... but we should think of names for either gender, as I cannot yet be certain. My clan tends to prefer names that begin with H and have connotations of the sun... I am an exception."
Yes. Literally. Future. It seemed it was the only thing in his mind ever.
"Ah, well, if you don't like it that's okay. I mean, we can... go with Hikaru, Hikari... something along those lines, tradition and all..." these were nice names too, but he was stuck on his idea of future. "If you do want... to branch off from your clan, you can.."
"Mirai..." she echoed thoughtfully, drawing a few absent, yet precise characters on the paper, different kanji combinations with different meanings and the same pronunciation. "Implying a distant future. As a female name, it is certainly an option."
She drew it again, this time with the simpler hiragana, then again with katakana like her own name and Sasuke's, then another word entirely.
"Shourai is gender-neutral. Implying a sooner future than Mirai."
If you asked him, he'd think Mirai can be neutral too, but he is biased, as seen earlier.
"...Shourai..." he repeated in a murmur, nuzzling her cheek lightly, stroking her skin gently. "Hmm~ it does sound nice to me... but it's not only about me."
It's not. Then, their village had never been terribly concerned for proper names, as evidenced by some others.
"It is not a decision we need to arrive at now, by any means," she answered, spending a moment more studying the page before slipping it and the pencil away again.
"Yeah... that future is still a while away." he brushed lips against hrs, purring. "I.. I know this is what we were aiming for, but.. a family..." He felt so high and happy. "We already had such a nice dinner that it... almost was a celebration in itself so now, I.. ahah.. I'm not too sure what to do, as far as... special things go.."
"I.. i'm fretting? Ahaha, right, maybe, probably. I-it's just... this is... the best day of my life, I can't even... describe this feeling, Neji!"
He would most likely calm down, but for now it was so much to take in. "How can you be so-- no wait you're always calm, I'm fretting for both of us, that's gotta be it."
"Of course," she agreed with another small smile, letting a hand trail down his arm to his hand, drawing it in close to her belly again. "And yet, at this moment, there is nothing you need fret about, Sasuke."
Her lips curved up in a more playful smile. "Shall I massage you, that you would be forced to relax?"
"...not fretting... right, I swear I,m trying." he pressed against her, nuzzling, feeling her belly with his fingertips. "Here I thought I was a relatively easygoing guy... I just might take your offer, love." a pause. "I should try doing that to you too, since you'll certainly need them at some point." he had it done enough that he knew just where to press, in theory.
"You and I both know if I were to massage you first, you would hardly be coherent enough to return the favor." Her voice stayed lightly playful as she let a hand gently stroke through his hair. "Though I would certainly not protest, should you decide to attempt."
He groaned. He was obviously losing this battle, too stressed to manage to do -any- good, and should he be finally unstressed, well... he doubted he would be coherent, indeed, once she was done. "I can't win, can I?"
"I believe today was enough of a win for you, Sasuke." She stroked her fingers through his hair a final time before finally pushing herself to her feet, offering a hand. "Come, I will prepare tea for you, and then perhaps massage you."
There was a light purr at her touch, and he took her hand, murmuring his thanks along with how she was the most beautiful woman in the world, before they both made their way inside for a more relaxing evening.
