It wasn't a bad sort of place. Lots of things to do and people to see. Plenty of freedom to dart over the rooftops and down the alleys--or out of the village and into the woods and rocky wild places beyond. Obito liked Michi no Sato.

He had stopped for lunch and was eating at a table outside the restaurant, watching people walk past. The food was good. The cold breeze was nice. Ah, yes. Years and years trapped in a cave with a crazy old man and a bunch of plant monsters--it had left him really able to appreciate the little things.

[ooc: here is an AU Obito in his twenties. Got through the time with Madara, and Rin's death, but didn't go completely evil after all of it...]

Tenten almost, almost growls low in her throat, but she just smiles and uncharacteristically takes Itachi's hand and holds it tight. It might be natural for any other couple, but she didn't do it often, not liking having her hands not free.

Around Obito was an exception.

Itachi blinked at Tenten for that, surprised, then just laced their fingers together before moving so she could get up out of the chair. "We'll go to our training ground, we're the only ones liable to be there."

The hand holding gets the quietest of little awws from him. He thinks for just a moment of trying to stir up some kind of trouble by... but no. That would be wrong and he does try not to give in to chaotic impulses. Usually.

He rises quick from his own seat and slides around the edge of the table smooth as smoke. "Excellent. Lead on."

It's a smooth, easy motion to rise from the chair and step in somewhat closer than usual to Itachi for something as simple as walking, but she only smiles at Obito again. Let him try something with Itachi, and he'd see just why Itachi was so proud of her weapons. "Maybe we'll get lucky and Sasuke will be there."

Baffled by her sudden touchy feely reactions, he gave her another curious stare, then started walking off toward home. "That would be excellent. Then they could meet each other too!"

That got a startled, raspy laugh from him because the thought was horrifying and wonderful and he could only imagine such a meeting ending in a truly fantastic disaster.

She quirks both eyebrows up at Itachi, but only smiles sweetly again. "I'm sure they'll get along. You're all Uchiha, after all."

Itachi gave her a wary look then, and looked to Obito, utterly serious as he continued to walk. "Please don't get Sasuke to try to set you on fire okay?"

[mooneye]

"...I have a feeling that..." explosion is going to be unavoidable. But hey, what did he know? Might as well think positive. "...I will do my best not to be set on fire."

"Good luck~" Another smile as she keeps her hand in Itachi's, running her thumb over the back of his hand. "So what kind of illusions are you going to show us, Itachi-sama?"

"I figured one of my preferred combat illusions wouldn't be out of place as you haven't seen them either, have you Tenten?"

He gave Obito a long stare. "He has a temper."

[mooneye]

"Excellent. So do I." A pause. "Though I certainly hope we'll all be just one big, happy family."

[bunsofsteel]

"Not yet." She shakes her head and keeps her fingers twined in his, eyes on Obito. She resists the urge to crack that the Uchiha were likely never a big happy family (clans never seemed to be), but she just shrugs. "Maybe Sasuke will like you for some reason. You never know."

He frowned a little and eyed her. "If -you're- acting like this..." He sighed and shook his head sharply. "I don't understand the tension between you two at -all-."

[mooneye]

"Tension?" He feigned total surprise. Looked at Tenten with raised eyebrows and the one eye wide as if he really had no clue at all what Itachi could possibly mean. "Tension, my dear?"

Her smile is all innocence and teeth as she glances first to Obito, then to Itachi. "I don't know what you're talking about, Itachi-sama. This is your honored cousin we're talking about."

He had the very strong suspicion that if he used Obito's full nickname she'd not react well all the sudden. He looked back and forth between the two. "...I really don't understand."

[mooneye]

"Tension, I really don't..." Obito looked completely lost and confused as well until, "oh!" As if some sudden, important realization had just struck him. "Unless it's sexual tension. An undeniable chemistry. A spark between us, you know."

The hand around Itachi's clenches tight enough to dig nails into the back of his hand as the other drops to her kunai pouch. Her eyes all but sparkle as her grin stays fixed on her face. "You wish," she answers, tilting her head to let the braid fall to her side. Her smile promises that she'd like nothing more than to put a kunai through his other eye.

Itachi could only stare at the man, though Tenten's action derailed him off his intended reaction for a moment as he made a startled noise at the sensation of nails so abruptly. Once the shock of the sensation passed though, he shifted on his feet and turned, swatting Obito hard with the back of his hand across his upper arm.

"Obito-nii-sama!" Aghast was not the tone he'd been hoping for there, and he tried to put more directness into it. "You do -not- say things like that!" He knew he was a little pink in the face, but he gave the man a stern look all the same. "No sparks. Bad Obito."

The swat gets a startled, amused noise that chokes off into a short laugh. "Ah? My mistake then, my mistake." He turns his gaze to Tenten, raising his eyebrows and inclining his head toward Itachi slightly to indicate what it is he's really talking about. "There are no sparks."

Nii-sama? Her gaze sharpens into a glare at that, hand staying firmly near her pouch in overt threat. The scolding is enough to leave her arching an eyebrow, torn between facepalming and laughing aloud, but she keeps her eyes on Obito.

Hmph. Most of the tension bleeds out of her form at the other's admission, taking it as intended, though her grip doesn't loosen on Itachi's hand. "Good," she answers, eyes flicking toward Itachi before returning to Obito again. "Let's hope it stays that way."

Itachi huffed and squeezed Tenten's hand, coming to a full halt as he gently, but pointedly lifted her hand his other hand moving to smooth over the nails -digging into his skin-. "If we could halt the glaring and the sudden foreplay-esque clawing for the time being that would be highly appreciated. Obito-nii is perfectly capable of respecting when someone is taken."

He gave the man a pointed stare. "Now aren't you?"

He nodded easily to Tenten. He was certainly not about to put his own well being on the line by getting into a love tangle as full of electrocution and sharp objects as this one would be. "Almost entirely perfectly capable of respecting that," he said. "What makes you both assume I'm not taken as well, anyway?"

Her cheeks flush that the use of nails in any context is seen as foreplay, but she just lets him lift her hand and smiles. "I'm almost entirely perfectly capable of doing that, Itachi-sama," she responds, using their joined hands to bring his up to her mouth to press a soft, open-mouthed kiss to the back of his hand over the intents from her nails.

The smile turns to Obito this time. "Perhaps it was the touching?"
