Up on the cliffside

Rolling out of his bedding hadn't brought him to an unanticipated level of comfort. He'd been on his way back to the village and had been in camp with his teammates after all. No, the jarring part was the mad scramble needed to avoid taking a headlong dive over a cliff that hadn't been there when he'd gone to sleep, and it was more than enough to immediately put him on the defensive, back straight as he slowly scanned his surroundings.

No teammates, no -forest-. Where the hell was he?

Bunshin nodded and dashed down the street, making people look at him weirdly. He took several turns until they ended up at the edge of the village, on complete opposite side from where they came.

Original Naruto was standing on wooden fence, looking at the house that was all covered in ivy and moss, with big weeds all around it. The mortar of the house is mostly gone, leaving bricks of the house visible. But the doors and windows seemed intact.

At sound of footsteps he turned and waved his hands, pointing at house.

Orochimaru frowned at the place, studying it carefully before hopping the fence. "I'm going to see if it's worth salvaging."

The original threw hands in the air then dismissed all clones that remained. "Knock yourself out. I think it will be fine, dattebayo."

"And you've done this before?" He circled away out of sight.

He wondered what that meant and shrugged, hopping off the fence and heading for the door.

He was checking the outside of the building while Naruto did that, making sure that the outside wasn't deceptive before checking the back door and carefully heading inside after undoing the lock. Well, at some point someone had cared.

Naruto entered on front door, scrunching his nose at the air. No one opened windows and doors in a while. He sneaked glances at kitchen and living room and while it didn't have much decorations it had the basic stuff- chairs, table, stove in kitchen and teatable and several sitting pillows in the living room.

He sneezed loudly, rubbing his nose:"Stupid dust... no one lived here for years it seems..."

He frowned and took a breath, holding his sleeve over his nose as the dust really kicked up. "It seems to be the case."

Then he braved the cupboards and fridge. If there was food of any kind it would be telling, though the idea of the ice chest having food was horrifying.

Naruto opened the fridge- and immediately closed it, looking a bit greenish in face. He looked at Orochimaru:"Um... I am not sure if we should..." he didn't even finish the sentence as he dashed for the front door. The smell was horrifying .

He was so very glad Naruto got there before he did, because he was more than close enough. Edging to fling open the windows in the room, he took as shallow of a breath as he could and ran through a couple signs before backing in the direction he'd seen Naruto go and blowing, stirring up a hard wind to try to get the smell back -out-.

The breeze...God blessed the breeze and air and everything fresh. He felt like vomiting right then and there. He crouched, still slightly dizzy.

He took a moment, threw open more windows as he passed them, then did it again from just inside the front door behind Naruto.

He blinked and turned around, enjoying the wind. "Savior..." he muttered happily before falling to his side, hands in the air.

He looked over at him and gave a laugh. It wasn't his evil chuckle either. "It's just a basic wind manipulation jutsu. But, wind element isn't exactly common in Konoha is it?"

He raised his hand:"Nope, it is not, 'tebbayo. I am wind element though," he sighed, eyes closed. The nausea is going away slowly. Good.

He frowned:"What the hell was in that fridge anyway!?"

"As am I." He eyed the doorway to the kitchen. "From the scent I would say vegetables. It wouldn't have been anywhere near that by now if there had been any venting."

He sat up:"You are?" He was about to say 'that's so cool' but then he remembered that this was Orochimaru. Almost.

He scrunched his nose and laid back down:"See? That's the reason I don't eat vegetables and keep them in fridge."

"Of course. Did no one ever tell you that?" He gave him a long look before shaking his head and sighing. "Vegetables don't do that if you eat them. They do that if you -don't-."

He shrugged:"Why would they tell me, 'tebbayo?" The only time he clashed with Orochimaru was when he turned four-tails and his memories of that fight are kinda blurry.

"Vegetables-smegetables. I don't eat them. You can if you want." He's pondering whether to smash fridge with rasengan or not.

"They talk about the White Fang, why wouldn't they talk about the Sannin?" He sighed after the words were out. "Clearly we didn't get as much of a reputation as I'd been led to believe then."

Shaking his head, he started toward the kitchen. "Help me take it outside."

He sat up:"Oh you did get Sannin reputation, tebbayo. Only..." he looked away for a moment scratching back of his head, "...you did things that you did and went rogue, so they didn't talk about you."

He got up on his feet, nodding:"I can smash it if you want!" He sounded very eager to destroy the stinky abomination.

"Don't you dare." He stared at him. "That will just spread the smell."

"Oh..." Dammit. He summed four bunshins:"Let's take that... that THING outside 'tebbayo." Others nodded and went to it, grabbing random sides and lifting it up.

Orochimaru's eyes went wide and he sprinted forward, just barely keeping the door from falling open. "Be careful!"

"I am! I am!" All of them shouted at once as they maneuvered the fridge through the back door into the back yard.
