Getting settled

This village was.... interesting. Not in a bad way, exactly, even though it didn't look like home, but this place was better than the last one he'd found himself in. He'd claimed a house a bit up the cliff face, where he could look out over the village, and he was sure eventually he wouldn't be the only inhabitant.

After all, this place seemed as baffling as the last. But, he was sure, he'd still get found by the ones who mattered eventually.

Thus, he settled himself under a tree, back leaned against it, as he nibbled some local dango.

"Yes, I grabbed it on the way in." He looked over, and noted that Isamu's speed had picked up considerably.

Itachi got up from the table again, and rummaged through the sack. He pulled out the berries and put them in a small bowl.

"Here you go. Perhaps a future shuriken session will get us some more fruit." he looked toward Minoru with an encouraging smile. "Though don't go so far next time."

Unwilling to let his children take all the fruit, he leaned and collected a few lest Isamu's greedy little hands went overboard. Which they did the second he was out of the way. "Small portions Isamu."

"But-"

"Small."

With reluctance the child released most of his double handful and sat back.

"Yeah! I said I was hungrier first!" Minoru quickly snatched up the handful that his older brother dropped.

"Both of you, save some for later."

Itachi reached over and flicked his younger son on the wrist. "Small portions!"

[itachi_san]

"No fair..." he dropped some of the berries back in the bowl.

"More fair than you happen to be being. Eat what you have before you get more." He gave him a stern stare until he complied.

[itachi_san]

"... fine." he pouted. It took surprisingly little time to convince them. Itachi supposed it meant that they were learning, albeit slowly.

Granted, when he was their age, he could remember snatching scraps off fallen shinobi on the battlefield. So this was far better.

Itachi relaxed and settled back with his own berries, nibbling on them one at a time as he enjoyed the company of his family.

"Now this is a vacation..."

He laughed and looked over. "Berries?"

[itachi_san]

"Don't mind if I do." he plucked one from the bowl and savored it.

He shifted a little and rubbed their legs together, clearly content to guard the bowl from little hands himself.

Itachi gasped, not wanting to blush. He hadn't been expecting the contact under the table. He flashed the Hokage a quick smile that basically meant, 'not in front of the kids.'

The kids, of course, weren't paying any attention. Well, Minoru, at least, was busy licking his fingers clean of berry juice.

He pretended not to notice, happy with his current arrangements as he gave a questioning hum.

[itachi_san]

"... later..." Itachi whispered with a smile.

That got a soft laugh and he reached for more berries. "Of course."

[itachi_san]

He thought about picking up a berry and popping it in his partner's mouth, but decided that the last thing he needed the boys emulating was a face full of smeared, sticky fruit juice.

It wasn't long, though, before both boys were finished with lunch and Itachi let them go about their cleaning.

He watched them leave the room then leaned over and licked the corner of his lips. "They already appear recovered."

[itachi_san]

Itachi smirked. He ran a hand across the Hokage's cheek.

"You're... feisty today."

[youngesthokage]

"Is that bad?" He pulled back slightly, watching him. "if it bothers you I can stop."

[itachi_san]

"Perhaps we should arrange a vacation more often... Though, let's wait until the boys are asleep to truly enjoy each other's company... and I promise not to use Tsukuyomi, even if it does make things much easier..." he added after a long pause. "If I did, I don't think Sasuke would ever let me hear the end of it."

He huffed a faint laugh and leaned in to lightly kiss him. "Nor would I."

[itachi_san]

He pouted a little, and blushed as he returned the kiss.

"Well, it does make things... better... you know..."

[youngesthokage]

He laughed lowly and turned his head to murmur in his ear. "You mean it makes you get -more-."
