[Open] Finally, good news.

When she'd gotten home the other night it had been to the horrible news that her eldest Itachi had had a complete meltdown and she hadn't been there to help. Unfortunately, she simply didn't have the ability to be home all at once, but it did put it in her mind that her and Kushina needed to have a talk if the woman intended to go around breaking her babies.

She was hardly the only one she needed to speak to though, and she heaved an agitated sigh, trying to sort out what to do.

Tenten knocked before entering the room, a little cautious. She'd visited expressly to talk to the other woman, but... something else seemed to be bothering her. "Mikoto-san...?"

She looked over and gave her a warm smile. "Tenten."

She couldn't help but smile in return, moving in and inclining her head in greeting. "It's good to see you... is everything okay? I mean, not that it doesn't look like it is, but..."

"Just... worried about the kids, that's all." She shook her head slightly and studied her. "You don't come by often, do you have something on your mind?"

"A few things," she admitted freely, moving in a little closer. "You worry about them a lot though, huh...? Has something new happened?"

"My oldest Itachi had a meltdown while I was out of town." She closed her eyes, shoulders slumping a little. "Timing, you know."

"Oh..." A hand came to her mouth as she stared. "Is... I'm so sorry, is he okay?"

[proudofmybaby]

"I... really don't know yet." She sighed and shook her head. "But, I'd rather have something else to think about. What's on your mind?"

She bit her lower lip, hand coming to touch her necklace awkwardly. "Now might not be the best time, I don't want to burden you or anything..."

"What did you want to talk about."

[bunsofsteel]

Guh, she didn't like that look at all! She moved to sit down, fingers still awkwardly rubbing the center ring of her necklace. "Well... I was just wondering, if you could go back and choose whether or not you wanted kids... would you still make the same kind of decision? I mean, I know it was different circumstances and all but..."

She hesitated a moment. "I love my boys, both of them, but I would have waited."

"How come...?"

[proudofmybaby]

"I was about to go in for ANBU testing."

[bunsofsteel]

"Oh..." Her fingers stayed at her necklace as she glanced to the table, swallowing hard. "Does that mean it's impossible to be a kunoichi and a mother...?"

"No. It just means that you have to decide how big of a risk you're willing to take with little ones expecting you to come home."

[bunsofsteel]

"...Mm. That's what I've always thought, too." Her shoulders slumped a little, then she forced a smile, trying to change the subject. "But how are things around the house? Neji and Lee behaving themselves?"

She gave her a knowing look, the laughed. "They've been amusing. Lee was sprinting around in Neji-kun's things for a while."

She huffed a quick laugh, shaking her head. "Yeah, I saw that. Well, heard more like, when he was running and yelling for forgiveness from Gai-sensei. Besides that, though."

"They've been alright. Neji's got himself a beau."

"Does he, now?" Now that she hadn't heard about, leaving her leaning in. "Is it Ino?"

"No, no, it's my oldest daughter, actually."

"Sasuke?" Her eyes widened as her lips formed into an 'O' of surprise. "After everything that happened, really...? I missed a lot, then."

"I don't know what started them off but they've been courting for weeks."

[bunsofsteel]

"Really." Her expression rather hinted to just how dearly she wanted to tease Neji now, but she held her tongue in front of her pseudo-mother-in-law. "I had no idea, but if they're happy, I'm happy."
