She had noticed the villagers running around preparing things for the past few days. Every time she attempted to speak to one of them about what was going on, however, they seemed to be too busy to answer her questions. Finally, she'd braved asking Kakashi-sensei's landlady—the owner of the bookstore—and was informed about the festival to honour the dead.

Hinata had quite a few dead to honour, here or not, and she purchased her own candles and some ingredients to make dishes to put before the shrine. It would be awkward since she didn't have any photographs of her mother and putting one of her cousin would seem a bit morbid, but she hoped that they would appreciate the thought anyway.

That was what counted, right?

Perhaps she wasn't the only one of the shinobi intent on doing so as well.

"She is? Did you learn yet?" because for some reason, now going home and making something even -better- than any salesman at the festival could make was an amazing idea.

"I've only done it once so far, and they turned out okay," she replied with a slight blush. "I will do better next time. I promise."

"How about next bein like.. real real soon~" yea, as in NOW soon? looks at these eyes, how can you refuse him?

She blanched as she looked at him. He was so excited. "Um, Naruto-kun, it takes a long time for the beans to cook so that I can use them. And even longer to form it into the cake."

Really, all day.

"..oh?" he scratched a whiskered cheek. "hmm.... so that means we can just buy them here then, huh?"

"Yes, and I will buy some ingredients to make them for you tomorrow?"

"YEA! Hinata-chan, you're the best!" cause he apparently hadn't thought of that. Red bean cakes, two days in a row? Epic! "So, first we find em here, then we go get your stuff, huh?"

"Of course," she said, her face bright red from his compliment. She still hadn't gotten used to that.

"Awright!" he gave an overjoyed grin. "I think I smell em that way!" he pointed to the south and instantly headed that way after claiming her hand. "Ehe~ red bean cakes~ Here we come!"

She let him pull her along, content to be with him, no matter what happened. But, mostly, she was happy that it was her that was making him happy and no one else.

"Of course!"

"Yo, ossan!" Naruto was the loudest among the crowd as they reached the appropriate vendor. "Can I get you a box of those?" yeah, that meant six! Lots for him, and however many Hinata'd like!

Once the box was bought, his hand never having left hers, he somehow balanced it on his forearm and used a thumb to flip it open. "Wanna have one while we walk around?" he could just wait until they founda nice enough place to sit and scarf down his~

She watched him deftly move to keep everything steady while he retrieved the treat to share with her. How could she refuse? "Yes, thank you."

He was pretty much a professional at balancing things like he was down, really. "I'm sure you can make better ones than tose.. except..they sure smell good. They still warm inside?"

"I will try," she said happily. She'd never done a lot of cooking before she came to Michi no Sato, but she found that she enjoyed it when Naruto-kun seemed to enjoy eating what she made.

She took a tiny bite and chewed on the sweet. "No, they are slightly cold, but they are still good."

"Oh, well, they smell pretty good anyways~ gotta be cause they made em not so lon ago." he pondered. "You said it takes a day to make the paste though? How do these people manage to make so many of these cakes? Gotta be a lotta paste..."

She tested the sponginess of the treat. "I would say they were made within the last few days. I suppose they work in advance to have so many available for purchase during festivals."

"Hmm.. days huh? If they still taste as good as whatever I always buy, that means something even better exists? Whoa~" there was a pause. "Not sure anything can beat that red bean soup you made a while back~" but there was room to try and achieve such a feat.

"Well, I don't know what happened to the last batch that Kushina-san taught me to make. I will make sure that you get some next time."

She blushed at the compliment. "I'm glad that you enjoyed that."

[OOC: Not that he got her anything for White Day~!]

"It's way, way better than that stuff they sell too!" because stuff that's sold just... tastes good, but not extra-special awesome.

Well, not that Naruto was that great with holidays. It wasn't advertised big enough.

She just hummed affirmatively at his comments. Really, all of his compliments would go to her head if she let it. Sitting with him, talking and eating sweets during a festival? It was like a dream. She couldn't have asked for anything better.

Well, besides when he kissed her, but that wouldn't be appropriate in public. It could wait for when they were at home.

When they found a place to sit, Naruto finally took out a cake for himself to consume, never having let go of her hand on the way. "Wanna go try this goldfish-scooping thing after? You can take em home~"

She thought about it. Of course she'd seen the little booths offering passersby the opportunity to catch a goldfish to keep as a pet.

She'd never participated, nor had she ever had a pet.

"Yes, but I am unaware of the care a fish would require."

"Oh... uh.. I think you just feed em with flakes or somethin once a day or such.. Even I could do that~" yeah, and that means it really isn't that hard at all... right?

She smiled at him gently. "Then we should go?"

He finished his cake, closed the box balanced it upon a hand again, getting up. "Yup! Let's soo how this thing works~ ahaha." it would certainly be fun, to do something like this, with her.
