He gave a light chuckle. "After all this time I can still surprise you huh? Then again, I haven't ever talked much about Menma, huh? ...aside from... missin him I mean." he murmured the last few words before taking a sip of tea. "He's the best Sealmaster's son, Minato's. He picked up a few things from his dad and heck, there's even some stuff he figured out on his own pretty quick. I thought it was hella tedious to store stuff in scrolls, but... it proved a great use in some missions we did."
He realized then, that there was a lot he never told her, all this time, but they did not need to know everything to love each other as they did. "Not to worry, I'll still keep money in mind, even if we can carry whatever we want..."
She nodded, keeping her tea close as she listened to him speak. It was interesting, in some ways because it was a person she didn't know anything about, in another, because it was through that she could learn more about Sasuke.
"Tian would store weapons in scrolls and use them as weapons," she murmured finally in response, fingers reaching to touch one of her chopsticks, holding it up before her eyes. "He was always fidgeting, always seeing what was around him to use as a weapon." She set the chopstick down. "Recently he had learned how to release weapons with paper bombs attached, and could control the explosion as well as the weapon. It was... impressive."
"Ah~ so he was like my Tenten.. except uh.. not as much a klutz. Sometimes I wonder how those teams succeeded.. Not that it matters, cause we were the best~" and most of this was through his own hard work and becoming an asset where he had been a weight.
"But still, controlling an explosion? Whoa! Sounds like a genius" he whistled in admiration. "Your team isn't something I,d want to be up against, aha~" then again maybe he would want to be.. no one gets better fighting weaklings...
"I have met the one called Tenten who is residing in Michi." In spite of herself, her fingers brushed over the chopsticks again. "We are both not the person the other was expecting, however, so I cannot say that we are friends. Merely comrades."
A soft smile as she looked into her teacup. "I do not know if I would go so far as to call him that, but... yes, he was skilled in his field. Perhaps, of people I have seen using weapons, he could be considered the best. Sensei referred to him as a weapons master, after all."
"Ah, that Tenten! Aahahaah!" he laughed aloud. "She wasn't the one I expected either! You should've seen that!" more laughter. "Mine never hits anything but herself, or distasters come close to happen when she's about to hit something. I happened upon her training and saw all those weapons about to hit a target. Of course, no other thought but saving the continued existence of the world was in my mind, so I rammed in with a chidori to keep them off their trajectory. It worked, but.. uh.. yeah since it wasn't the one from my world she sorta doesn't like me much other.. You shoulda seen her face though!"
"Fortunate it was not Tian you matched, as he would have challenged you on the spot." She hid her smile behind her teacup as she took a sip. "He took pride in hitting one hundred targets out of one hundred, after all."
She sighed quietly into her tea, smile fading at the corners. "It is strange, to think of all the changes that have happened in our lives without them at our sides, is it not...?"
"HA! I would've taken that challenge head on! I never back down from anything, you know it~" a grin. "...unless it's very very obviously bad to my health.." a pause. "Then again, a guy hitting a hundred targets with a hundred weapons... probably means against one targets, er... hundred weapons.. Hey, might be bad for my health after all!"
As her smile faded, he went closer to nuzzle her cheek ever-so-briefly. "We both... miss our teammates a lot... but it,s natural. We were together with our teams for a long time."
"One hundred distinct targets with one hundred shots. A bulls-eye every time." There's a hint of wistfulness to her voice, even as she leans back with a severe look at the cheek-nuzzling -- not in public, Sasuke!
"It is true," she confirmed, glancing to her teacup again. "Our teammates were like family."
"That was Lee." She shook her head and glanced toward the window with a small sigh. "The ninja who couldn't use ninjutsu who grew to become one of the strongest fighters I have ever seen."
"Sounds like my worlds'. At least I know in yours there's no way he coulda made off with Tenten's underwear..." this wasn't the strangest hobby he had seen... and not the strangest he would see.
She flushed at the thought and shook her head. "No, certainly not. I haven't the faintest idea what kind of undergarments they wear, but-- no. I cannot imagine they would."
"...Indeed. And I am glad for it." She glanced to him to offer a quick flash of a smile before taking another sip from her cup, smile slowly starting to fade again. "Perhaps they will someday arrive here, as well."
"Pretty sure Menma would love his guinea pig back... as for Sakura..." he stretched his arms, grunting lightly. "She,d probably be glad since .. here'd mean no Hinata.. so a free shot at Menma..."
"Hinata-sama..." she mused quietly, taking another sip from her teacup and sighing quietly. "It is strange that he is not here, as well. That very few members of my clan are here at all."
Her lips curved into a small smile. "Would that the majority of them never come."
"Strange, but.... some sort of blessing." he rose a hand to call up the waiter. "Want any dessert? Green tea ice cream sounds nice~" he could stand some very lightly sweet stuff.
"Besides, even if any of them came, they can't change what's happening, and what's to happen." if anyone wanted to bring clan business into -his- family, he would not even hesitate. He could be ruthless.
"That sounds lovely, thank you, Sasuke." She nodded in agreement and took another demure sip of her tea.
And a glint of possessive pride in her eyes as she nodded in agreement. Let them just try to take her child away from her, they would see just how powerful their treasured genius truly was. After being so long out of her cage, she would not willingly return. "They cannot and will not," she agreed firmly. "There will be no other option."
Neither of them would let any fate take anything away from them. For a milisecond, it might have looked like that mangekyou flashed threateningly.
They both had for one unshakable resolve and for two quite unsettling destructive power if they so chose to go for it. If they were together against any person or group? Easy to tell who would lose.
Their dessert was brought out in what he might state as record time, and was good for cooling his brain. "Mm~ it's nice and refreshing." he commented, not actually having had ice cream since a good while.
She only nodded in response, pressing her spoon lightly against the ice cream and letting it melt slightly before taking a bite. "Perhaps after this... would it be too much to ask that we attempt to find a ryoukan or other place where I might be able to bathe privately sometime tonight? For now, resting alone would be sufficient, but after our journey..."
"We can, love~ We also can save the shopping for tomorrow." she would, after all, deserve to rest after their long trip.
He waved the waiter over again to ask for such accommodation, and nodded as he listened to the directions he was given. "There's one~" he gave a nod as the waiter went to get the bill ready. "It's in the far edge of the village, had a really nice view of the sea too~"
"Excellent, thank you." Truth be told, she had never much been one for shopping, let alone the kind of browsing that such things entailed. Far easier to know what one was looking for and purchase it immediately.
"Should you wish to go out and explore, I will not grudge you," she added, glancing to him again. "Resting would be welcomed, however."
"Whatever we do, we'll do it together~" he gave her a loving, warm smile, snatching the addition. "If you're done here, we can go to the inn~" he got up from his seat, taking out enough ryo to pay for their meal.
"Thank you, Sasuke." A smile then as she reached across the table to brush her fingers against the back of his hand before finishing the last of her ice cream and tea. She didn't even bother to protest the ryo anymore; their finances were practically pooled at this point. "Truly."
She was ever-grateful to all he did... and he never would get tired of hearing it. Their next stop was the inn, to which they were welcomed warmly. Sasuke let Neji get their room first as he took care of paying and signing the guestbook.
Once he joined her in the room, he went to give her cheek a nuzzle before going to open the window. That view of the sea was quite breathtaking. "Hm~ Isn't that sea air nice?"

He claimed some tea, still chuckling.
