It's so pretty...
He was dressed up. Where his mother had managed to locate anything to dress him up with on such short notice with he had no idea, but it meant when he took off roaming he was a streak of dark blue and red amid those at the festival as he went here and there, utterly fascinated by the new sights.
He'd been to festivals in Konoha, yes, but those were different. This was -new-.
It also meant he wasn't exactly being the most attentive person ever, and had escaped the people he'd been with. Unintentionally, of course.

She blinked, slightly confused:"A-Apologize for what, dattebane?" Curse her stuttering but she couldn't help it.

But then at his statement, she started to panic:"E-Eh!? You weren't! I'm not unhappy with you at all dattebane! Why do you think that?" There's worried look on her now. And he's... not looking at her. For some reason, she felt hard tug in her chest.

"A-AH! But that was an... accident..." she mumbled, heat returning to her cheeks in full force. It was kind of embarrassing admitting that she didn't know how to properly kiss...
She picked on her kimono. "If... if I didn't like it, I would have just stop, dattebane."
She grabs front of his kimono and tugs him forward so she can be close face-to-face with him:"And stop saying that! I can't think like that about you dattebane!"

His famed eyes of insight were failing him now, considering this was something entirely outside his own scope of experience. She certainly didn't look angry. "What... do you think about me, then?" he murmurs finally, one hand coming up to cover hers on his kimono, though he doesn't try to lift it or move away.

She gave him a smile, a true genuine smile before having to look away- it was embarrassing having to say it and looking at him is not making it easier. "When... we returned from shopping that time, I never felt so genuinely happy. And it was so long since I felt that way and... well..." yes, that is more color rising up to her cheeks, but she turned and looked him in the eyes:"I-I like you, dattebane."

"I..." He knew he should point out that any kind of relationship is impossible; after all, they weren't at home, and these kind of torn loyalties between this place and where they belonged were exactly what he had cautioned Tenten against. In the wake of knowing what her lips felt like against his, though, it was so much harder to stick firmly to that kind of logic.
He rarely does anything truly impulsive, but he's telling the truth when he admits, "I... like you, too. You are beautiful and bold, yet surprisingly gentle." His eyes flick to her lips for a moment before he meets her eyes, utterly serious. "I would be honored... if you would consider this a date, after all."

But she didn't break the eye contact- she didn't want him to think that she was feeling insecure about what she said because that's not true. With her other free hand, she moved her bangs behind her ear, giving him bright smile:"Mmm. It would be cruel to call this anything but date, dattebane." It really would be.

He's distracted by what seems like a sudden plunge of darkness and silence; the fireworks' finale must have finished.

She looked up at sky as the fireworks stopped, sighing:"Aww, they stopped already? Such a shame, 'tebbane."
no subject
"It seems they have," he remarks, reaching around her to tuck the blanket more firmly around her shoulders from where it had shifted loose. "We appear to have missed them."
no subject
She smiles at him as he tucks blanket around her even more. She wasn't cold at all, but she decided not to say anything. She smiled, somewhat shyly:"Yes. We did. We were... kind of busy, dattebane," she said in almost a whisper as she picked on her kimono.

It was kind of hard to outline him in the dark and considering they were on the hill, there were no street lights. Now- how to get another kiss from him?
