The Frost Festival
At some point, Michi no Sato turned from a typical, if somewhat quiet place, to a village filled with lights and color. It seems that here, they have a festival in the days following the first true frost of the season. There are games, vendors, and all manner of quiet traditions that get followed at this time.

Lanterns are being lit now, and the great feasts have begun, where anyone is welcome to partake. It seemed that generosity is the spirit, as all those special parts of the harvests and hunting that can't be preserved are offered to any and all.

The festival has several smaller events that might be of the most interest to those new to Michi no Sato, such as:

The Great Bonfire
The Bonfire is lit as of the morning after the frost, and is kept going for the entirety of the week long festival. It is not uncommon to see people near the edges, throwing away things of the previous year, or things that caused them sadness. There are also wishes being thrown into the bonfire on papers, so overall, if you have something you wish to change, here is where you should go.

The Contests
There are all manner of contests going on around the village, and they range everywhere from cooking contests, to eating contests (clearly one follows the other) to art contests where the winner gets a voucher for the shop of their choice.

The Fireworks
As a new twist on an old treat, in this village it seems that not only can you request fireworks, but if you can answer the quiz the firework makers give about safety... well, they'll actually let you help, and maybe even set them off yourself!

There are more, of course, and these are simply the premier events, so go out and have a little fun!

Ah, the Great Bonfire. Located in the middle of the village, people gathered to watch fire reach up to the skies and lighten the paths of those that got lost.

He didn't consider himself lost. He considered himself trapped in this so-called village. It was so peaceful, so calm, so ordinary... so out of place and time. And Neji knew that he died. Why was he here again, he didn't know.

Thoughts like that plagued his mind day after day. And even the great Bonfire didn't bring him any calm or answers he searched for.
And so he wondered, while seated on highest house in the village, watching the fire and people, should he try and find route out of here? He wants to rest...

Tenten didn't have so many regrets as she had wishes. Even back in Konoha, she'd always made a point, if she wasn't on a mission during the festivals, to toss a piece of paper into the bonfire each day it was lit. The first night had been a wish for Itachi's health, the second for Sasuke to someday come back to the village, the third to beat that Neji, the fourth that he find happiness, and so on, and so forth.

As happy as she was here, she couldn't quite bring herself to wish that she stay. She cared for both of her Uchiha -- she still blushed to call them lovers -- but it just wasn't the same as spending even an hour with her team. Tonight's wish was to go home and let everything go back to the way it had been.

She offers a silent prayer with closed eyes, then she folds the wish into a paper shuriken like a child and flicks it to the edge of the fire to watch it burn. Though the white silk of her Chinese-style dress is lined with wool, her flesh prickles as she watches the fire consume the little shuriken and the smoke start to rise into the air, then with a sudden cry of surprise she brings both arms up, crossed over her chest in an X to guard as a sharp winter wind makes the flames gutter for a moment.

By the time she looked back, her shuriken had disappeared.

Kisame is standing next to the fire, just enjoying the warmth and the light. It's been a pleasant sort of thing to see all week long, just like the rest of the festival. He generally ignores people who step up to toss things into the flames. And he doesn't add anything himself. He had sort of toyed with the idea of making a wish back when the thing was first lit, just for kicks, but he hasn't been able to think of anything. And as for regrets, he has none.

So he's just relaxing--a tall man standing with his hands in his pockets, not so recognizable as a member of Akatsuki unless you get close enough to notice his strange features.

The Great Bonfire. A small boy with dirt smudged cheeks lingered by the fire, staring into the dancing flames. He was alone, severely undressed for the festivities with old worn out clothes but he didn't seem to mind.

"Nii-san," he drew closer to the flames, then closed his eyes while he squeezed the small picture book in his hands tightly. "I wish... I wish you were here with me for my birthday," he said, before blowing on the flames with all his might in an attempt to blow them out, until his little body trembled from the force of it, and his head grew dangerously dizzy, before faltering forward.

It was sometime since Naruto and Oro, under very weird circumstances, decided to live together. Orochimaru decided to take half of the house to do... his own things (which Naruto immediately filed in 'weird crap' category).

Now Naruto wasn't person that cleans and stuff, but the place was pure dump. Aka not even mice would live there. So he decided to spend few days cleaning stuff out. And he did. Dumping everything he didn't need in front of the house, on a huge pile. There were broken chairs, tables, moth eaten futons and sheets, broken china, rusty silverware, moldy books and ripped scrolls. Everything Naruto though he won't need.

He didn't particulary consulted Orochimaru if he needed anything of the stuff.

So he did what any normal person would do- made a bonfire. He grinned satisfied, hands behind his head as he watched.

Within hours of finding himself in this new location, he'd removed his Sound forehead protector and buried it in a copse of trees beyond a rice paddy. It was clear that there were no shinobi here, and he had no desire to stand out. What was the saying about the post that sticks up...? If captured, he would need to be able to morph his allegiances to suit, not be branded prematurely by a piece of metal. Purposefully, he'd masked his Chakra and made to blend in, smiling and earning himself the trust of a simple herbsman within the village itself. To even the most trained eye, the young man with the prematurely-grey hair had made himself a home in this so-called Michi no Sato.

Yakushi Kabuto had no home, only cover stories.

Whether this was a test of Orochimaru-sama's or a genjutsu prison devised by any one of their many enemies, Kabuto would survive, would thrive, and would eventually escape to rejoin his master. Any lingering doubts that he might eventually be happy here on his own were quickly squashed. Independence was not an option.

Within a few days, other shinobi began to arrive, some more obviously than others. Through it all, the young man only smiled, collected herbs, mashed poultices, and took careful, careful notes.

The bustle of the Frost Festival provided the perfect opportunity to personally gather more information. The shifting timelines and alternate personalities he'd observed would only be to his benefit here.

He was dressed up. Where his mother had managed to locate anything to dress him up with on such short notice with he had no idea, but it meant when he took off roaming he was a streak of dark blue and red amid those at the festival as he went here and there, utterly fascinated by the new sights.

He'd been to festivals in Konoha, yes, but those were different. This was -new-.

It also meant he wasn't exactly being the most attentive person ever, and had escaped the people he'd been with. Unintentionally, of course.

Remember, all prior events still -can- be used.
