It wasn't a bad sort of place. Lots of things to do and people to see. Plenty of freedom to dart over the rooftops and down the alleys--or out of the village and into the woods and rocky wild places beyond. Obito liked Michi no Sato.

He had stopped for lunch and was eating at a table outside the restaurant, watching people walk past. The food was good. The cold breeze was nice. Ah, yes. Years and years trapped in a cave with a crazy old man and a bunch of plant monsters--it had left him really able to appreciate the little things.

[ooc: here is an AU Obito in his twenties. Got through the time with Madara, and Rin's death, but didn't go completely evil after all of it...]

"Uchiha Obito." he was going to be sort of surprised if the name meant anything to him. Even if this had been an older Orochimaru, it might not have. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Obito mmm? Not a name I recognize. A pleasure to meet you Obito-kun~." He stepped in, tilting his head to study him curiously.

Obito stayed where he was. There was no fear, no tension in him. He himself had very little concept of personal space--because Madara had had very little concept of it. He only studied him back, single eye keen and curious. This was such a young man, and very lovely, in a way.

"I knew of you, when I was a child," he remarked. "And saw you in the village a few times. But you were older then than you are now, I think."

He quirked his lips and gave an exaggerated sigh. "Everyone seems to have seen me but all of you lovely people are far outside my timeframe. I'm twenty six, and unless you were born inside the second war... then I do think you're after my time."

[mooneye]

"Quite a bit after, if you're twenty-six." He paused. "Well. You made yourself pretty famous, so. It's not surprising most people have heard of you."

He tilted his head and stepped closer to peer down into the man's face for a moment, more interested in his expression than his scars. "And just what have you heard? Sadly not everyone has a favorable opinion of me."

[mooneye]

The expression had a feline quality to it. Alert. Trying to figure out if this was another predator he was dealing with, or prey, or something else entirely. Not hostile. Just watching very closely. "I've heard of your skill and your intelligence," he answered, at length. Tactful. Why make an enemy of this man? "And that you led Hidden Sound. I've got only respect for that."

He settled back on his heels, looking contemplative then as he a glint of cold calculation was there and gone again. "Hidden Sound? Interesting. Where was it stationed?"

[mooneye]

"Beyond the Valley of the End, west of Hotsprings. In my world." He shrugged.

[smallstepstopower]

He canted his head to the side, humming lowly. "And you? What was your place in the world Obit-kun?"

[mooneye]

He smiled at that, jerking his head to the side just a bit. "I had no place in the world. For the most part I was assumed dead." He shrugged. "That's true here, as well."

[smallstepstopower]

He considered this for a moment. "Freeing or stifling?"

[mooneye]

"Freeing." He answered without hesitation. "And useful. Dead men get away with all kinds of things the living ones don't."

[smallstepstopower]

He considered this a moment. "Being a younger version of myself seems to have a similar result." He laughed and flicked his hair back as he stepped in, smiling. "My often times housemate that I acquired on arrival here for instance. Well, he was all set to kill me, and now, well, he's quite fun to fluster, but because I -haven't- done anything to him yet, no matter how bad it apparently was, all's forgiven."

[mooneye]

"...Are you planning on doing anything to him?" The question didn't carry any sort of judgement. He just wanted to know.

[smallstepstopower]

"Hmmm not anything bad. Not unless he makes me angry. Why, did you have plans?" He blinked, genuinely curious.

[mooneye]

"Nah." Obito shrugged. "I'm not looking for trouble here. Unless anyone really asks for it."

[smallstepstopower]

He looked at him through the fall of his hair. "And was that asking for it referring purely to trouble?"

[mooneye]

He smiled very slowly. Warming to the playful tone. "I'm a very generous man." He shrugged and raised his eyebrows. "When people ask me for trouble, I give it to them in spades. Anything else they ask me for, well. They get that in spades as well."

"Ohh, I see~." He shook his hair back and straightened, leaning toward him slightly as he did. "Why, that sounds positively -thorough- of you."

[mooneye]

He put his hand over his heart. "I take real pride in my thoroughness. Why do anything just halfway?"

[smallstepstopower]

He laughed, a light, genuinely pleased sound before he smiled at him. "Why indeed."

[mooneye]

Obito watched him. He really was pretty, with that hair and those pale eyes. "Anyway. Who is this housemate of yours, that you don't intend to do anything bad to, unless he makes you angry?"

[smallstepstopower]

"Hmm, Naruto. I almost set him on fire a couple weeks ago... He burned some of my things." He paused, smile turning wry. "Itachi might have accidentally burned the entire house down after that while in my company, but the matter has been resolved and none of it was my fault."

[mooneye]

"Fire isn't anybody's fault. Fire just happens." That was true enough in the Uchiha clan, at least.
