Heartbroken? Open to all but heroscomeback)
Naruto-kun had been in Michi no Sato for a few days now, and while after their first talk they'd shared many more, it still felt awkward and painful to be around him.
No matter that he'd said, and she understood, that he needed time to adjust to being away from the fighting and other things that had occurred back home, her heart was still heavy.
She didn't know how to talk to anyone about it. Would it be proper? Who would understand? Could she do it?
Lost in thought, she sat down in the dojo of Mikoto-san's house with the intent to meditate and clear her head, but it wasn't really working after an hour.

"I heard you talked to my teammate. What was that about?"
no subject
"He came upon me as I just entered Michi no Sato from my timeline," Hinata said softly.

And her voice certainly wasn't shaking. Absolutely not.

"I will say this only once, Tenten-san. I have never wished for my cousin's death. In my time, we are..." She frowned before glaring at the girl once more. "We are close. He is my family; sometimes I think he is more my family than my own father and I would have gladly given my own life so that he could be the one to show our grandfather how wrong he is for perpetuating the distance between the Main and the Branch families. You know nothing."
"And, if you think you know anything about me know, you are sorely mistaken."
no subject
"Then why kill him? Maybe he's related to you by blood, but he's my teammate. Those bonds are more important than any of your clan crap. So why'd they kill him for you?"
There's no mistaking the venom in her voice as she lost all hints of her smile.

She activated her byakugan and stared at the other girl coldly. "Neji-nii-san was the only member of the clan who took a personal interest in helping me improve myself. He became more like a sibling to me than even my own sister. So, yes, he is your teammate, but he is my onii-san."
no subject
Her chin lifted, hardly intimidated by Hinata's Byakugan when she'd had Neji for a teammate for nearly two years. "What are you gonna do, huh?"

Hinata felt her feet and hands itch to move into the Gentle Fist stance, but held back. Tenten-san shouldn't be attacked for doing what Hinata herself would do for Neji-nii-san. "I will let you know something, Tenten-san, that you may share with your Neji-kun. My uncle gave up his life to keep my father safe, by his own will. My father was willing to sacrifice himself to protect me. But so was my uncle, and to protect the clan. Since you are not a member of the Hyuuga clan, you probably don't understand what that means, but Neji will."
"My father told that to Neji-nii-san and then saw to it that Neji-nii-san was accepted by the rest of the clan, even though he was a member of the Branch family. In fact, Neji-nii-san was more important that I was to him." She stepped closer to Tenten, using her greater height and stature to advantage, as she'd seen Tsunade-sama do on more than one occasion. "It may be my fault that Neji-kun knows that he is going to die, but it is not mine that Neji-nii-san does. I was willing to die to keep Neji-nii-san and Naruto-kun safe from harm. Only they mattered to me, but he pushed me out of the way to keep me safe. For some reason, I believe he loves me, as I do him."
"So, you will now leave me alone." The 'or else' wasn't necessary.

When Hinata stepped forward, Tenten retreated, keeping her same distance in case she needed it, scowling up at the older kunoichi, fingers tightening against the paper. "Where's the proof that you're not just making it all up? Or that your father isn't doing it? You've got to admit that it's all really convenient. A way to cage him in further. Do you have any idea how much he suffers over all this fate crap?!"
She was shouting now, her hands clenched into fists at her sides as she glared up. "I don't need to be part of your stupid clan to know what it's like to lose people, Hinata-sama! And he's not dying for you or any other stupid Hyuuga, not if I have anything to say about it!"
Her jaw clenched as she kept backing up, toward the door, shaking her head. "So you stay away from him, got it?!"
no subject
"If I had anything to say with it, no one would die," she said monotonously. "Do as you will. I have no intention of being around Neji-kun."
no subject
He was quiet, definitive, and standing there. Who knew how long he was listening in for, but Tenten was someone he... Tolerated. He didn't want her to continue like this, though at the moment he wasn't entirely sure of why.
"He doesn't glare at Hinata anymore. The older him refers to her with respect and dignity, and it's not forced at all. It's not unthinkable that he would care for her after something changed his views after the chuunin exams."
no subject
"It doesn't matter," she bit out, fists clenching into the paper of her scroll again. "Neji deserves better than dying for someone like her or anyone else in that clan. He's stronger than anyone, you'll see! He's a genius... like Lee..."
She kept backing up, trying to make her escape, gaze flicking between the two other shinobi.
no subject
"My Neji-nii-san is a genius, and so is Lee-san, but I have never lied." She turned cold, dead white eyes on Tenten. "Not even to myself. Nor would I start now."
no subject
There were some things he knew, and thinking about them made his expression even more serious than it was before. But, that wasn't what he was talking about then. He was talking about Neji.

She had no idea how other people had arguments that lasted so long. "Thank you for trying to help me, Uchiha Sasuke-kun," she said, tears finally falling as she continued to sit on the cold floor. "I am sure that nothing that anyone says will change her mind, nor that of Neji-kun. Not until they are ready."
no subject
He sighed, shaking his head and watching her for a moment. It didn't take long for him to leave completely, thinking that it'd be better to just leave Hinata be.

He had just rushed thre as everybody had left, and found...
"...neesan?" he stopped at the entrance of the room, but soon ran in quickly. "Neesan, why are you crying?" he asked, looking at her with wide, dark eyes.
