She'd only walked out of her rooms and ended up in some strange village. It was most decidedly not the home of the Kazekage, where she had been just two seconds before.

Temari was already tired. She'd just spent time watching over Kankurou after he'd been poisoned and then she'd gone to retrieve Gaara and bring him back to Sunagakure. She just wanted to sleep. Surely the fates weren't that cruel, where they? At least she had her tessen with her.

With an annoyed sigh, she started walking into the village proper, determined to find out what was going on and how she could go the hell home!

"..I.. am?" he blinked, then scratched the back of his head with a goofy grin. "Eehehehe~ that sounds pretty awesome~"

"Welcome to the family," she said before leaning into his personal space. "Now, tell Nee-chan who you're dating, or you'll be smacked with her tessen."

"Eeeeeeeh!? Hey! Why're you all threatening me? I mean uh, I'm like your brother and stuff no?" even unnoficially? "That's so cruel!!"

"You're lucky you're not Kankurou. He doesn't usually get a warning." She gave him a smile that was all sharp teeth. "I keep forgetting that you never had siblings. All pretty standard stuff, Naruto-kun. Now, are you going to tell me, or am I going to have to beat it out of you?"

"MOU! Annoying!!" he raged briefly before pouting. "Yeah, well, FINE, and that's just cause your way of beating'd blow down a few houses!!" looks like he'd have to. "S'Hinata." he straightened.

She blinked in surprise. He was with the Hyuuga girl? Well, that was kinda nice to know. At least he wasn't with a girl that was going to try and take advantage of him.

Temari's smile softened into something sweet. "I'm glad then. Good choice, though I'm curious as to how her cousin is taking it. He's kinda protective of her now, you know?"

"Who cares. I mean.. I kinda care but he knows I'm not gonna be doing stuff she doesn't want. Neji ain't an idiot, and he's a buddy~" so there!

She giggled at him. "That doesn't mean he's not going to want to talk to the man sleeping with his favourite cousin." She shook her head in pity. "I heard your mom's running around here, yeah? How would you feel if there was a guy trying to get into her pants? That's probably how Neji feels about you. Only a little more fondly, I suppose."

"My mom can do whatever she likes. Plus, I know there,s only ever gonna be my dad for her... I mean... he was the greatest ever." and those few words he had with him? "...heh." he grinned to himself, still looking so silly.

She looked at him incredulously. "Okay..." She tried to think of the women that Naruto had in his life. "Say me then. What would you do?"

"Wha'd you mean what i'd do? If mom had anyone doin anythin she didn't want, she'd kick their ass like she kicked mine." he shrugged. "I don't need to watch after her."

She looked at him before cracking up into nearly hysterical laughter. "Why am I not surprised that your mother is violent and able to handle herself?" she managed between guffaws. "No, stupid, I meant what if someone tried to get too friendly with me. What would you do then? I'm supposed to be your nee-chan, right?"

"Oh... Uh... I dunno, I'd say I'd kick their asses, but... you'd probably send em into the next country with that fan of yours..." he blinked.

She ruffled his soft, blond hair. "That was the right answer. Now, do you see how Neji might feel about his cousin? I don't think he has any siblings, right? Besides, Baki-sensei says that brothers are always stupid about their sisters. I know my uncle was." She closed her eyes on the harsh memory before smiling at him again.

"Of course, you're right that I'd probably just use some wind jutsu on anyone who tried to do something to me, but it's nice to know that you'd care enough to help me, Naruto-kun."

"Oh. Uh... well, I dunno, he's not gonna kick my ass I think, cause I kicked his already~" he gave a light smile, remembering that day... "I'll deal with it when it happens~ As for helpin you out, anyone doin anything to those I care about is better be ready for some retribution.."

She just looked at him for a minute with an amused smile. "That wouldn't be the point, Naruto. It's about looking out for your family. Which it sounds like you've got down pretty well." She patted him on the head like a puppy.

"Oh.. eheh~ That was it huh?" even though he never did have a family, he knows what important people are, and he isn't about to let any of them down. "Thanks, Temari-neesan~" he gave her his usual stupidly goofy yet adorable grin.

"You're welcome, Naruto-kun."

God, he was such an adorable dork. Hyuuga Hinata was a lucky girl if he was serious about her.

"Yeah, so, you and Hinata-chan and your mom can come visit me any time. Now that I'm settled, I'll be visiting down at the big house to start training with Sakumo, hopefully."

"Training with Sakumo huh? Nice~ That guy's really fun! I mean, uh... after I got beyond the whole.. not-used-to feeling. Sakura as a guy's actually pretty great~ I don't mind these weird other timelines much!"

...at least it was better than this girl-Sasuke he dealt with. It did feel like Sasuke though, down to the hatred of Konoha...

"Yeah.... Hey, doesn't Hinata-chan have medical training? Maybe if I can do it, she could help me learn."

She looked at him for a beat. "Sakumo is actually kinda cool. Sakura always seemed a little stand-offish with me, even when she was helping my brothers out." She shrugged. "It's okay though. I can kinda understand her attitude."

"Hmm.. she does have some, yeah, so I guess you can ask her. Pretty sure she'd help out~" he gave a wide grin. "Just ask her nicely~"

"No, Naruto, I'm going to walk up to your girlfriend and demand that she does what I want or I'll kick her ass."

"...I hope you're joking..." The way his expression changed, the shift in those blue eyes? Indeed, she had better be joking.

Oh, yeah, there was a bit of a story about how his violent his reaction was. However, no matter what it was, she approved so long as it didn't bother the girl herself. "Of course," she said with a huff. "Just 'cause Gaara used to have a bit of a temper problem doesn't mean that Kankurou or I suffer from the same, you know."

He let out a breath. Good... even if he -really- shouldn't have suspected her in the first place, right? "Yeah. uh.. sorry 'bout that." he murmured, slightly sheepish. "I mean, I.. guess I had t'make sure..."
