She'd only walked out of her rooms and ended up in some strange village. It was most decidedly not the home of the Kazekage, where she had been just two seconds before.

Temari was already tired. She'd just spent time watching over Kankurou after he'd been poisoned and then she'd gone to retrieve Gaara and bring him back to Sunagakure. She just wanted to sleep. Surely the fates weren't that cruel, where they? At least she had her tessen with her.

With an annoyed sigh, she started walking into the village proper, determined to find out what was going on and how she could go the hell home!

He was actually out of the house for once, no new emergencies having gotten him today, when he saw her. "Temari-san?"

She turned around as her name was called. All she caught was the pink hair before she opened her mouth. "Hey, Sa...ku...ra?"

Okay, so that was not Sakura-chan...

He blinked, then pouted a little as his shoulders drooped. His tone was a bit rote. "Hello, my name is Sakumo, in my world the girl named Sakura was born male. Welcome to Michi no Sato, people from different possible timelines and points in time arrive here at random. No one knows how to return home and some don't want to, beware of spoilers for any possible future for yourself. Questions?"

"Riiiiiight." She took a deep breath, looked around, and then let her eyes land on the obviously upset boy-Sakura. "So, this place is some freaky land where there are...what? Alternates of people I know?" She grinned. "Is there a girl Shikamaru? Because that would be too fun."

Then, she thought of where she'd just left. "Oh, yeah, you seen my brothers anywhere around here?"

"I actually have yet to see any Shikamaru." He paused to think about this. "Only female Naruto, she's gone home I think, a couple female Sasukes, a girl Itachi, and apparently me. Everyone else is the gender I'm used to. As for your brothers... I've spotted two versions of Gaara, though neither stayed long, and no Kankurou at all."

She sighed. So, she was stuck here, without either of her brothers, and a bunch of gender switched Konoha nin. "Okay, no way to get home actively, have I got that right? Wonderful... You know, your team kinda ruined my retirement."

"Retirement? Bit young for that aren't you?" He couldn't help but flash her a playful little smirk. "You must age really well."

"Weeeeeell, when your baby brother is the Kazekage, you should be able to do what you want, right? I left Gaara with Kankurou and just wanted to relax for a bit." She sighed as she looked around. "So, what's there to do in this place?"

"That depends. Are you looking for mission do, free do, or spending money do?"

"All of the above?" she said with an amused smile.

"Missions are something to talk to Mikoto-san or Itachi-sama about. Itachi-sama has more progress for not specialized ones than Mikoto-san though. Free do is easy enough, just grab someone and go around, usually you'll find something, and spending do, well, caravans came through recently and I hear there's a nice onsen."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa... Slow down there, pinkie! Itachi-sama? Who's that? Who's this Mikoto-san? New here, remember? And it's not like I ever knew all the Konoha nin anyway."

He rubbed his temples. "Don't call me that. Itachi-sama is the only active resident Kage, he was Hokage in his timeline and has pretty much taken charge of the vilage here. Mikoto-san is Sasuke's mother and was dead before arriving here."

[heroscomeback]

"Ooooh~ It's Temari!" came a too-familiar and too-enthusiastic voice. Naruto had been strolling through the village and not spotting much troubleanywhere before happening upon her. "Heh~ you're lucky, the weather's gettin sorta warmed these days. Ye just got here?"

She sighed as she heard the familiar voice. Well, she'd wanted to talk to the blond anyway, right? "Hey, Naruto! Yeah, I just got here. Met up with the boy-Sakura first thing... Then that creepy Sai guy."

"Ohyeah, Sakumo~ He's actually really cool, eheeh!" he grinned. "..whoa wait, Sai? Sai's here!?" a pause. "...why am I even getting excited..."

"Yeah, I actually kinda like Sakumo. Way nicer than Sakura, in any case. He said that he'd try to figure out if I could learn medical ninjutsu and teach me if I could. That way, I would be able to help my own brothers without hoping some Konoha nin just happened to be on hand."

She put a hand on the blond's shoulder, amazed still at how much he'd grown physically over the years. "Yeah, I met him, but he's pretty creepy. What's his deal? That fake smile pisses me off."

"It's just Sai. I,m not even sure what's his whole deal, but... he's my teammate. He,s tryin to uh..learn to be friends and stuff, except it ain't workin so well..." he grinned sheepishly.

"Understatement, Naruto. He's like a living doll, only Kankurou's puppets are pretty much less creepy. I don't think he knows how to be friendly at all."

He laughed at that. "Aahhaha! It's okay. I mean... he's really blunt 'n all, but... he's a teammate I can count on, after all that..." he paused. "He sure knows how to insult people though. Think he's reading the wrong books...."

"I think he should stop reading." She huffed out an annoyed sigh. "So, what's been going on with you? I'm still trying to get adjusted to this place. I found a place up on the cliffside that kinda reminds me of my house back in Suna. I think I'm gonna stay there and come down to the village to do stuff."

"Me? Stuff's all real peachy! Likin it here, even if the ramen place isn't Ichiraku's. This place is pretty... peaceful it looks like, so we can sorta relax." he linked his hands behind his head. "I'm actually kinda... glad I got to be here."

She looked at his face closely. He was happier than normal. "Who are you sleeping with? Sakura?"

"How can you even tell? What are you? And NO! She'd break every bone in my body or something before that, even!!"

She raised one eyebrow at the blond boy before giggling. "You can't possibly believe that everyone's as virtuous as that Hyuuga girl, right? I mean, I heard you trained with Jiraiya-sama for that time you were away. He's the biggest pervert in the entirety of the elemental nations!"

Temari put a hand on his shoulder as he seemed ready to hyperventilate. "I was just teasing about Sakura though. She seemed far too attached to Uchiha even the last time I saw her."
