It's so pretty...

He was dressed up. Where his mother had managed to locate anything to dress him up with on such short notice with he had no idea, but it meant when he took off roaming he was a streak of dark blue and red amid those at the festival as he went here and there, utterly fascinated by the new sights.

He'd been to festivals in Konoha, yes, but those were different. This was -new-.

It also meant he wasn't exactly being the most attentive person ever, and had escaped the people he'd been with. Unintentionally, of course.

He gave a little nod, but looked pensive. "He didn't know how to smile anymore."

His own smile fell away, as his eyebrows creased with confusion.

"Everyone knows how to smile." He shook his head. "Maybe it was someone else you met."

He bit his lower lip and gave him a sad look. "He looked like you do. But his smile was all fake, like he'd practiced." He reached over and touched his cheek. "Not like yours. He was a really -good- artist though. He really saw people."

He didn't pull away from his hand, though his eyes did widen in awe for a moment. "He was?" He showed him the Picture Book Shin had just gotten him. "I practice drawing a lot," his voice grew with excitement. "Do you really think he was good at it?"

He nodded at once. "They were very beautiful pictures even though I could tell he'd drawn them quickly. He saw how people felt, not what they looked like with them."

He glowed underneath the praise, so unused to it, he easily drank it up. "I'm glad you liked them."

He beamed in turn, glad that someone around here knew how to take a compliment. "I did! A lot! Maybe we can find him sometime and he can show you? So you can see too?"

"Really?" His smile immediately blossomed. "I'd like that!" His smile dropped a notch as he thought of something. "But... what if he doesn't like me?"

He paused, seeming to consider this. "I don't think he wouldn't like you. You're neat. Like super neat."

His cheeks turned crimson at the array of compliments he was so unused to hearing.

"You're... neat too."

[stillpure]

He gave a little laugh and smiled. "I'm glad you think so!"

"You're an Uchiha," he smiled back. "Everyone thinks so." Neat that was. He'd heard of some of the infamous Clans from Konoha. Uchiha's were one of the most renown along with the Hyuuga Clan.

His smile faded, and he huffed lowly. "That shouldn't be why!"

His smile remained. "It's true then!"

He pouted. "Being an Uchiha isn't what makes me neat though."

"I know. You're nice because you're nice." He wrung out the words in a happy tune. "But it's nice that you're an Uchiha too." He grinned at him.

There was a beat, then he seemed to relax, smile returning. "Okay! Then that's fine."

He smiled back at him, giving him a firm nod.

He beamed and turned to head into the crowd, towing him along. "Come on, lets go play with the games. I'll see if I can't win otouto and mom a prize or two. Hmm, and you too!"

He followed after him, letting him lead the way. "Maybe... I can win something for Nii-san."

He nodded firmly at that. "Yes! Let's do that then!"

"What game do you want to play?" He'd never been to a festival before, couldn't imagine what games they had, let alone how he was supposed to play them, but he was curious, and wanted to learn.

"There's a lot of accuracy games, and speed games, and the fish game. Hmmm, accuracy games should be pretty good for prizes." He veered off hunting for one.

"Like throwing kunais and shuriken?!" He knew that. He might not have been as good as his brother, but he did well with them.

He nodded at once. "Usually darts and rings though, so the civilians are less likely to hurt themselves."
