Up on the cliffside

Rolling out of his bedding hadn't brought him to an unanticipated level of comfort. He'd been on his way back to the village and had been in camp with his teammates after all. No, the jarring part was the mad scramble needed to avoid taking a headlong dive over a cliff that hadn't been there when he'd gone to sleep, and it was more than enough to immediately put him on the defensive, back straight as he slowly scanned his surroundings.

No teammates, no -forest-. Where the hell was he?

He blinked:"I am!? So- you are from the past, 'tebbayo?" He frowned, scratching his cheek:"Well, they are in their fifties I think." His face darkened at the thought of Ero-sennin.

His voice was flat. Oh dear gods Minato produced an idiot. "Fifties. Okay. I will remind you of something crucial now shall I? I am -twenty six-."

WHOA! "TWENTY-SIX! Are you kidding me!?" he exclaimed loudly, his hands flailing around.

He rubbed his forehead. "I did mention this earlier in the conversation as well."

"You did?" He forgot. Then he remembered:"What does that have to do with anything?"

"All the things you mentioned, I can't have done them no matter how you look at it, because I am much too young." He tilted his head. "You really don't look like your father, now that I'm really studying you."

He pouted and crossed his arms looking away:"Who cares for your opinion! And the fact that you did those things still stand." Stupid Orochimaru.

"So you're going to blame a -loyal- Konoha nin who never did anything like you describe for all sorts of terrible things? Minato and Kushina created a cruel child."

[orange_dattebayo]

Pissed. "OI! You are asking to be punched dattebayo!" He frowned:"The older Orochimaru influenced my life to the worst. I can't just forget it even if you are from different time line, dattebayo."

"And I'm the only one that ever did anything bad to you in your entire life, is that it?" He tilted his head. "So I get all kinds of terrible accusations flung at me."

[orange_dattebayo]

"You started them! You took my friend away!" He panted from yelling. "I guess you don't get it since you didn't do it yet..." he frowned.

"As you say. I didn't do it, so why should I fee bad about it or wish to accept the blame?"

[orange_dattebayo]

He pouted again and turned away from him. There's NO WAY he's apologizing to Orochimaru. "You may be right but I won't apologize just so you know!"

"Yes, well, I didn't expect anything else." He gave an aggrieved sigh. "Uzumaki aren't known for their manners."

[orange_dattebayo]

"Oi! I can show manners when I want to!" he points at him accusingly. It's just weird to do so when person did such horrible things... in future-- GAH! His brain hurt. He should stop thinking!

Orochimaru noticed the look and laughed. "Well, I'll just have to wait and see if I get an example."

He nodded, crossing his arms. "So um, what are you doing on cliff-side, dattebayo?"

He frowned at that, gaze flicking to said cliff before looking back to him. "I have no idea."

He got on his knees and crawled over to the edge, peeking over:"It's kinda freaky, dattebayo." He couldn't see the bottom of this cliff.

"I imagine it curves under as the village seems to vanish from sight. Now imagine waving up to nearly falling off it and you'll have my morning."

[orange_dattebayo]

He moves away from the edge:"You almost fell over? This thing doesn't seem to have an end..." he scratched back of his head. "There's nothing on the other side of it either. I just came from there, 'tebbayo."

His lips twitch. "It's just a trick of the eyes. I take it you're poor with genjutsu?"

[orange_dattebayo]

His eye twitch. "Yes. This is a genjutsu?"

He waved downward, then reached over to jolt him with chakra carefully to help the blond be able to actually -see- the village below. "No, that is. Look down."

He didn't appreciate the other touching him but everything seemed to clear out for him. He blinked and glanced down, almost falling over. "Whoa! This was a genjutsu."
