Getting settled

This village was.... interesting. Not in a bad way, exactly, even though it didn't look like home, but this place was better than the last one he'd found himself in. He'd claimed a house a bit up the cliff face, where he could look out over the village, and he was sure eventually he wouldn't be the only inhabitant.

After all, this place seemed as baffling as the last. But, he was sure, he'd still get found by the ones who mattered eventually.

Thus, he settled himself under a tree, back leaned against it, as he nibbled some local dango.

Itachi, with Minoru and Isamu both in tow, made a break back through the forest. He tried to keep at least an eye on the Hokage's chakra, to make sure he wasn't in any trouble. He didn't want to lose him entirely, but he had to get the children out of there.

It was a while before he came back, but he finally felt safe taking tot he trees and leaving the bear behind to return to his family. "How is he?"

Minoru, thankfully, had little more than scrapes and scratches. He was shaken, but not badly hurt.

"And I'm sorry I was throwing shuriken at the trees trying to hit the fruit like Mama said and I heard something in the brush and I threw one at what I heard like maybe it was a rabbit or a kitty or something that would move and then this huge thing just came at me and I ran and I tripped and it kept chasing me and I almost ran over the cliff and I didn't have nowhere to go so I tried to go down and it tried to hit me and I screamed and it scratched me and I ducked and I screamed and then you came and then Mama and I'm sorry!!"

"It's all right, it's all right, Minoru. It's over now."

Isamu had crawled over his mother until he could cling to his twin in something of a death grip. He knew that between the two of them he was the braver one but this had still scared him and he hadn't even been there.

Itachi moved over and hugged everyone. "You're alright, you're all alright, thank kami."

Minoru, as shaken as he was, had no problems clinging back. It was probably the last time he would pick a fight with something THAT much bigger than him. (At least for the next few weeks...)

"We're all fine." Itachi added, putting his hand on the Hokage's arm.

The blood must have been from the wounded bear, because none of the scratches were deep. They'd still need to be properly cleaned, though, and disinfected.

"Did you lead the bear far enough away?"

He nodded, looking everyone over anyway before hugging them again. "Let's go inside alright?"

"I think that's a very good idea." Itachi nodded, gathering the boys. Together, they walked toward the little cabin. "I think we've had quite enough excitement for one afternoon... And I think Minoru got his rock climbing adventure out of the way too."

He gave a faint humorless smile. "Yes, he did."

Still, he ushered them all inside.

Itachi closed the door behind him. Minoru was very happy to be inside and not outside. There was just one tiny problem.

"Um... Mama?" he tugged on Itachi's hand. "I kinda lost your shuriken..."

"I have a lot more, don't worry about that." he poked his son in the forehead. "I'm just glad you're all right..."

Noting that Isamu had yet to release his twin, he ushered both boys to the sofa. "I'm going to go get lunch from the kitchen."

"Good idea." Itachi replied. "I'll get the first aid kit and clean Minoru up a bit."

He paused for a moment, while Minoru huffed his usual silent protest, even as he was being squeezed.

"Isamu, do you want to help Mama? Or help Papa fix lunch?"

Isamu lifted his head, still squishing his brother half to death. One could never deny this. Isamu had the better grapple hold of the brothers when it came down to it. "...I wanna stay here."

[itachi_san]

Itachi smiled warmly. "I can't clean your brother's scratches if I can't get to them, Isamu... He'll be all right. I promise."

He poked the older twin in the forehead.

He probably would have praised the younger for showing considerable restraint instead of fighting. But the boy was more shaken than anything else. And once he calmed down, he'd probably be back to biting Isamu to get him off.

He squirmed and slid around him so he was more out of the way. "Hmph."

Well, that accomplished what Itachi had asked for...

"Oww... Isamu! You're pulling my hair!"

[youngesthokage]

"Not my fault! You never brush it!" He grabbed the entire mane and shoved it to one side.

[itachi_san]

"I do too!" he shook his head, letting his hair fall where it may (including hitting his brother). "You're just jealous, 'cause yours is so flat!"

"You said you wouldn't bring that up." He immediately stuck out his lip in a wounded expression.

[itachi_san]

"Even the bear's stuck out more than yours!" Minoru winced as Itachi applied antiseptic.

"Minoru, that wasn't very nice to say." Itachi warned.

"S'not my fault you're greedy and took all the spiky."

[itachi_san]

"Now, Isamu, that's not something he could choose." Itachi added, putting the last bandage on Minoru's knee. "Besides, when you were born, you both had the exact same head of little spiky hair. Then it kind of grew in differently."

He eyed the boys with a smirk.

"And Isamu, YOU used to be the bigger of you two. At least for most of your first year. You started out being the louder one too."

Isamu stuck his tongue out at him. "Meh, then he ate everything right? Or do ya think you switched us?"

[itachi_san]

"We didn't switch you." Itachi smiled and laughed. "Isamu, you would cry and cry for something to eat. It was a battle just to get you to look at a bottle, Minoru. And if I made you take just one mouthful more than you wanted, you let me know it. All over my face. All over my clothes..."

That got a round of laughter from both kids.

"Real food, though? You liked that once you got a taste of it."

"So Minoru just found the bottle boooooring~?" Isamu leaned over his brother's shoulder to poke him in the belly.

[itachi_san]

Said belly made a hungry gurgling noise.

"You're booooooring." Minoru pouted back, squirming around enough to poke his brother in the nose.
