She laughed quietly at his words and only flashed him a brief smile before returning to her food. "Perhaps it is something you should receive more often, then."
A breath of hesitation, then she turned to her tea and took a sip, using it to partially cover her face for a moment. "If you would like, I would not object to doing such a thing for you perhaps once a week." Finally taking a second sip, she set the cup down and raised an eyebrow at him, as casually as possible.
"Eh? No way, don't laugh! That's cruel! You're saying I wasn't punsihed often? HA! It's cause they didn't see throuh the rest~" because he had more of those tricks...? "Nah, joking~ Menma's made sure I wasn't trying to get any easy way out. Plus, how lame would I look as the last of my clan if I did more of that simple trickery? Kakashi-sensei did have some good points."
The suggestion nearly made his jaw drop, he actually put back the rice that was halfway to his mouth. "W-wha? once a week?" Was she serious? "You mean.. cause you do need practice, huh?" he couldn't fathom any other reason. No, he could afthom... but if he admitted it to himself he might get hurt in the end. "If you're willing, who would I be to refuse?"
She couldn't help but laugh again at his protests, covering her mouth with her hand as she set the tea down. Good, that he did not try to weasel his way out of training. After all, if she had had to go through Gai's strict training, it only seemed fair that he not be permitted to avoid it, either.
Speaking of avoiding, she avoided his gaze again as she went back to eating, still feigning casualness. "I would have to draw the line at being denied my bed for one day out of every week, but should you manage not to fall asleep every time, perhaps I would be willing to do so." Strategically ignoring the question that she might need more practice, because, well, as he should be able to feel, that was something the natural genius really didn't need.
Indeed, he knew she did not need practice, so why... would she even suggest this? It made little sense unless his mind wandered other places. "Oh, ahahaha~ sorry" he gave a sheepish grin. "I'll probably get used to feeling like this, I swear! I just thought I wouldn't be able to get up anyways so I thought it'd be netter to sleep in there. I can probably think of a solution if the only issue is me taking up your futon, though..." which implied getting a bedroll of his own and bringing it over. "All I would need is a 2 meters by 3 storage space~" he had yet to eat more himself, possibly because he was just talking so much.
Her voice was quiet as she added in response, "I... did not mind." A glance up as she met his eyes again, frowning a little. "What on earth could you possibly need storage space for?"
Space was hardly an issue, considering she had the entire house to herself, so what could he possibly have in mind?
She stated clearly that she did not mind him falling alseep. He tried to keep himself from reacting too obviously. "Good then~ cause if I can get my own bedroll and store it here, I'll be doing a lot of that~" he gave her a beaming smile.
"You wish to do so?" She blinked at him, mouth falling slightly open as she felt that by-now-familiar pink flush rising to her cheekbones. A quiet huff through her nose as she rested both hands on the table and leaned in slightly. "People may start to say things if you were to spend nights in my home."
"Oh.. uh... yeah." Well, she would be worried about that, of course. "I don't care what people think though, and neither should you. After all we know the facts are otherwise, right?" he tried to sound comforting there.
She looked at him for a long moment before picking up her chopsticks again with forced casualness. "Indeed. I am certain that those who matter know me well enough not to assume such things, in any case."
A finger went to trace the chain he wore around his neck, his other hand busy with the chopsticks, finally starting to eat again. "Besides, I'm sure that those who know me are going to--- wait, no one here really knows me anyway, ha~"
There were not many indeed that may claim to know him any touroughly. He was one with multiple facets...
She stayed silent at that, closing her eyes for a moment before continuing to eat. It was true; she had the advantage of most assuming her to be rather like her male self (though really, how similar could she be, considering one was in a relationship with both the Yamanaka girl and the female Sasuke...?) that she could feel confident in making such a statement.
For him...? "As I said," she added finally, quiet again. "Those who matter, know."
"People do love to assume things and gossip around..." he did hear a few things at his job, really. "Besides, it hasn't even happened yet, so we're fretting over a whole lotta thin air." he shrugged. it would indeed happen, as soon as next week.. and then they would deal.
Finished with the rice and eggs, he sat back, finger travelling over the fine chain at his neck.As long as you're happy, nothing anyone says should matter...."
"An admirable sentiment," she agreed, though truly? She knew there would most likely be rumors spread. That is how this place seemed to work, small enough that everyone had his or her nose in everyone else's business. She couldn't say she was fond of it, yet... it is not like there were members of her clan whose disapproval she feared.
The only members of her clan remained iterations of herself and her cousin.
Finishing herself, she sat back, eyes moving to the finger touching the chain. She had assumed it to be a nervous gesture, when they first met, but now? The rest of his body language didn't match. "Of what are you thinking?" She let her eyes flick more obviously to the necklace before turning her gaze to him.
Indeed, he could not possibly be nervous at this point, or as nervous as to fall back within any pre-established gesture of comfort that this may have been thought to be.
"There are times when I imagine... the future. Imagining this might be foolish, especially as ideal a future as I might be picturing, but it helps me retain my goal, forever at the back of my mind." Future? This probably didn't include flirting until he was 50 with anything that moved.
"Somehow, I find myself much at ease, when I feel those links, strong and timeless slipping onto my finger..." he brought the chain a bit up, to his lips. "Future.... Time.... Dreams... Those are all concepts that may make anything into a mirage... but I do want to believe in such a thing. Believe in the best future possible for me." eyes driften down, since she did look at that chain earlier.
"You do know what happens if one link is severed..."
She followed the way he lifted that chain, the way his lips brushed against it, listening carefully to what he was saying as much as she was reading his body language, trying to sort out what was beneath the surface here.
"The best possible future?" she repeated quietly, gazing at the chain and the Uchiha symbol dangling there. "Where you find yourself enough women to bear your children and recreate your clan in your image?" What else could his constant flirting mean, other than a desire to have as many women as he could find? Each link of that chain could have that meaning, indeed. A necklace of that nature was not made of only one link, after all.
He blinked at then, then laughed. "Oh please, enough women to--- no, no, absolutely no!" indeed, the way he kept flirting may actually not adequately portray all of the depth of his goal and thoughts. "This would bring my clan the worse reputations. I actually flirt around because--- well, simply put, I enjoy being around girls~" he purred.
One might also wonder how serious he actually was with this flirting. "You recall Ino, from the flower shop? if yours is similar, she also flirts, and people take it witha grain of salt. It pleases some types of people to flirt, and it pleases other types to be flirted with." he shifted on the chair, stroking the links again. "This chain has a different meaning, however, in that it symbolizes unity, which is my wish for the Uchiha Clan's rebirth." he paused for emphasis.
"Without perfect, unbreakable trust, unity means nothing. No woman would accept a man that has as many spouses as he has children. The Uchiha were filth, and I am not going to rebuild it with filth." so then what did this all mean? "On the surface, I do spend my off-duty time flirting, but this is only because I am keen on finding those who stray for the norm, those who look past it and dig beyond the surface of all these artifices... akin to what you are doing, I may point out. Only niisan-Hokage asked me the meaning of that gesture, so far."
That -- shouldn't relieve her as much as it did. It was true, that she had assumed him to be like those others here, who seemed more concerned with following a path of love that led to a splitting of attention among two lovers. Perhaps more, if they continued in the vein they were already. So she leaned back somewhat, still listening carefully.
She couldn't help but flush when he described her in such a light, though she refused to glance away, too focused on trying to read his face and his intent. "I try to look beneath what is on the surface... As a child, I relied too heavily on these eyes to truly gain an accurate picture of a person. I have striven to change that, and yet you..."
She shook her head, a small smile curving her lips. "I am pleased I was not so incorrect about you as I had first perceived. You... are a good man, Uchiha Sasuke."
"I take the missions I am assigned very seriously... and rebuilding the clan, my clan... is a lifelong mission. I wouldn't ever take a foolish step, and even though I can imagine it may be hard to choose between two people that one may love equally, it may be better in the end than to try and keep both or multiples content. The concept of multiple lovers is nothing that enthuses me. My goals is one thing, but I do wish to make certain that there is a mutual link of trust and love.... and that the other party is willing."
He claimed the chain within his hand then. "I've thought long and hard about how to go and rebuild this clan, and I believe it would need at the very least four children, with hopefully one being a girl." he let his eyes slipped closed then. "I can see it.... I can see it so well it's almost scary, but... I can never see just who is at my side." he claimed a deep breath.
"Here though, even if this is not my world, my mind id det. Children are irrelevant though, and part of m hesitates in even seriously aiming for anyone. This world took me from my own, so it easily can reclaim me, or my other.... and cause sudden heartbreak. It is nothing I wish on anyone."
He started stroking the small chain again. "Thank you... for the compliment."
She rested her chin against her palm as she listened to him, again staying silent until he was finished and categorizing what it was he had said. He sounded so very similar to herself, in that respect; for his clan, everything he had was for his clan's future.
And here, there was no future for her clan. She was not about to go far enough to demand that her male self have children with Hinata-sama, that wouldn't do at all. For her, the only option remained iterations of herself, and that was even more repulsive.
"I envy you your certainty," she said finally, gaze cast downward to the table. "Though pose a question: as there are children of shinobi present in this village, is it not worth it to try to build your clan here in this village? We may only be here a short amount of time, but to impress one's will and leave a lasting impression of some kind, so we are not entirely forgotten...
"...." Dark eyes were wide as he processed her words and their meaning.
Rebuilding his clan.
Here.
The idea had not entered his mind before she'd stated it, and once he did think about it, it made perfect sense. Although... "Should I be taken before I have time to pass on my knowledge though, it might be a very unfornate event." a pause, and he shook his head. "This sounds like a good opportunity regardless, and 'leaving' is only a what-if. There is no telling if I am here for months, years... or decades. If I have to take a bet, then... I will bet on the future."
"There have been those who have been here for months already," she agreed, white eyes watching him carefully, letting him reach his own conclusions. "It is still only a thought, however. You are the one who will, in the end, make the final decision as to what you wish to do."
Too disciplined to allow her restlessness to show by fiddling with her chopsticks, she instead folded her hands before her and quirked an eyebrow. "Hardly the kind of thing one imagines as breakfast time conversation, however."
"Hardly?" he repeated, cocking his head. "Any conversation is appropriate at any time if it improves one's condition, be it mental or internal." dark eyes trailed over to her. "I see nothing wrong since it helped me reach a decision. What of you?" he inquired, catching a grain of rice that had stuck to the end of a chopstick with a flick of tongue.
White eyes widened subtly at the question, though she didn't otherwise react. "What of me?" she repeated, giving him another unamused look at the tongue-gesture. "I believe we were speaking of Uchiha Sasuke."
"Oh, you mean that dashing, stylish and cool last Uchiha huh? Yeah, I guess we were talking about him, although... don't you agree that any conversation suject can be brought up if it enhances one's views regardless of the time of the day?" he reiterated his earlier question as it should have been.
"Perhaps," she agreed, unamused look unwavering as she looked to him. Unamused, and somewhat nervous. What did he wish to talk about. "Then what of me is it you wish to know?"

A breath of hesitation, then she turned to her tea and took a sip, using it to partially cover her face for a moment.
