He was dressed up. Where his mother had managed to locate anything to dress him up with on such short notice with he had no idea, but it meant when he took off roaming he was a streak of dark blue and red amid those at the festival as he went here and there, utterly fascinated by the new sights.

He'd been to festivals in Konoha, yes, but those were different. This was -new-.

It also meant he wasn't exactly being the most attentive person ever, and had escaped the people he'd been with. Unintentionally, of course.

"Yes you do. Awareness checks count as ambushes." He retook his hand then and resumed going through the crowd.

"Hmph." Neji only gives another barely-there smirk and freely lets the other take his hand. "If you were aware, then it wouldn't be an ambush."

She pouted crossing her arms- what's this talk about ambush? "Let's go, dangos won't eat themselves," she smiled afterwards, actually remembering where they had headed to.

He nodded and started towing them along more quickly. "Mm!"

Neji just huffs through his nose and permits himself to be tugged along; infuriatingly, that small smile wouldn't leave his lips even as they walked, until he spots a nearby stall. "This should be sufficient, yes?"

"Yes! It's perfect, dattebane," she grinned widely and nudged Itachi gently. "What do you think Ita-chan?"

He eyed her for the name, but pretended he didn't hear it after that. "We can try it. I haven't been here yet."

Neji doesn't bother protesting this time as he makes his way to the counter; ordering and paying for two servings of dango and three cups of tea.

She smiles and makes her way between tables, along with Itachi, taking up one that was free next to window. "Is this good, dattebane?"

He nodded and settled in, watching Neji expectantly.

Since it's set up for the festival, he receives a small tray with their food almost immediately, a pot of tea and three cups beside it to bring back to the table. The tea he pours with his own practiced grace for each of them and lets them take the dango however they please. "This is what you wanted, correct?"

She grinned and took the plate with colorful dango:"Yes. Thank you very much." She picked up and immediately ate first sweet treat. No time to waste.

He nodded and collected a stick for himself to nibble on, relaxing back in his chair.

"You're quite welcome." Another small smile as he glances to her, then busies himself with his teacup, wrapping both hands around it and bringing it to his lips to inhale the steam. "And after this, we are going to find your mother, Itachi-kun."

She had her mouth full so she only nodded. But she was sure that Itachi won't like this plan at all.

Itachi gave him a mournful look. "If you just wanna go on your date without me you can say so."

His cheeks go pink, but he only closes his eyes and takes a sip from his teacup. "Don't be ridiculous. I'm certain your mother is worried about you, after you wandered off as such."

She choked on her dango an started coughing, grabbing the tea and gulping down at least half from the cup. She's will be avoiding to comment by pretending to recover from choking.

"I'm not a baby, I'm perfectly capable of moving around the village without getting hurt or kidnapped or anything."

"I am aware of that." Neji takes another long sip from his tea, trying to quell his blush. "Even still, I'm certain that next time, she would appreciate notice, yes?"

She sighs deeply, recovered:"Ita-chan, I don't want Mikoto-san to get angry. If you don't want to go shopping with her, just tell her dattebane," She sighed.

"I saw you you know." He bit a dango off and pointed the stick from one to the other.

"Saw what?" Another sip of tea before he sets the cup down, giving Itachi a thoroughly unimpressed look. "I see you, too."

She blinked, looking at Itachi curiously. Asking same question seemed pointless. What is he talking about?
