[Open] Home at last.

She'd been away from home a lot lately and she was more than aware of that. While the kids and other adults were doing their best, they still had quite the pack of children to support, and there had been no fall back funds or reliable missions to take care of the gaps. It was improving now, but she'd had a rash of missions to take care of over the last month, and it had meant that she'd been away far more than she'd been home.

She just hoped everyone was happy to see her, given that the weather seemed to think she needed to be blown away the second she stepped foot back in the village.

In any case, she'd fought her way back to the house, changed into clean clothes, then went out for a walk since most of the house's residents weren't home. When she got back, she'd check on the ones who were, but in the meantime, she saw no issues in fetching some fresh things for dinner before settling back in.

"Me? Since before New Years, actually." She continued to pet him, amused at his reaction, but understanding about it too. "Have you made any friends yet?"

"New years? That sounds like a while, considering the warmer temperatures.." He is indulging in that touch too, practically purring like a content feline. "Friends? My boss~ We hit off great! I've met some people here and there but not really often or long enough to call'em friends yet I guess? I'm sure that'll come soon 'nough~"

"If things go the way I think they are with those three, you might as well call your boss Neechan." She shook her head with an amused smile. "But in the meantime, you can spend some time with me, since I've been so busy."

"Hm. I actually do, we're that well acquainted" it doesn't confuse people as much since they sometimes see the female version of him nearby now and then. "I do like the sound of that..." he hooked a finger onto the chain at his neck, pressing it between thumb and index. "...this feels... like some dream coming true." Shopping with his mother... Simple errands.

"Sakura said something vague about my world being created by two people's wishes.." or something like that, it was confusing. "...you being her makes me wonder if this isn't similar..."

A pause.

"Although if it was my ideal world, things miiiight be different." oh would he have a lot of cute offsprings running around too!

Her smile turned sad, and she leaned in, kissing his forehead. "It's not so ideal here, but it is a second chance, and I'm happy to have met you, one of my boys happy, all the same."

"I have lots of reasons to be happy... I mean, I settled home right away, even found a job. Sure it's not as challenging or keeps me as much on my toes as missions, but I like my neesan-boss~ There aren't any people from my timeline, but I can deal. Figured it makes more sense to just wait till I end up back home to rebuild the clan, so that's one thing that went to the back of my mind..."

He paused to shift and blink over to her. "....but that smile of yours... What's not so ideal? Anything I can help with, mom?"

"Not really baby." She sighed and shook her head. "Just the worry about your brother... and how I got here, that's all. Neither one is really something anyone can change."

"...how you.. got here?" dark eyes searched hers, but... "If things happened the same way everywhere, I..." his words caught in his throat, and he had to hurriedly bury into her as the memories of this day came flowing back.

"i-it's.. not what.. I'm thinking, right?"

She wrapped her arms securely back around him as he pressed close and she rested her cheek on his hair. "Would you like me to just not answer that?"

"Love you mom" he hugged back almost instantly. There didn't need to be any answer.

"...somehow... you're even prettier than I remembered.." he should change the subject slightly from this.

She blinked at him a moment, then gave a soft laugh. "Thank you?"

"So.. where to?" he asked, finally getting himself to let go. "We've got errands to run~ I bet littlest me is going to be all over you when you bring back tomatoes." which he was sure were on every to-buy list no matter what day.

She looked a bit exasperated. "That boy... I have to smuggle them to the blind one because of that child, honestly."

"...you know, that makes me wonder how many people have been trying to tell him the same thing." he shook his head. "I mean, I know he's probably growing and all and just eating whenever, but I keep reminding him he's gotta share. Thought I got the message through but now I'm not too sure." he hummed thoughtfully.

"I'm afraid he's rather spoiled, that's not particularly helpful with things like this."

"...hard not to spoil him though, right?" he murmured. "With mostly everyone knowing what happens later on, well.... even I just can't get angry." he shook his head. It was obvious that everyone was being overprotective of that still-innocent, endearing ray of sunshine, even if he was eating tomatoes like some monster.

"At least I got him to be more serious about his chakra training... pretty sure by now he's just doing it cause I told him to and forgot about what he originally started it for." he gave a light laugh. Little did he know, his younger self had not forgotten, not at all. "He looks like he really is all over the place though... but... he's still a kid after all." a pause. "...a spoiled kid. Back to our starting point."

She laughed softly and nodded. "A very spoiled little boy."

"I don't think we're ever going to want to un-spoil him, huh?" he gave a sheepish grin. "I mean, so what if he eats all the tomatoes? There's me along, I can carry some more back home today." Besides, making plans to have his younger self not so spoiled? It sounded like a heartache.

She gave him a wry smile and then sighed softly. "I wish all of you were that spoiled, actually. It never fails to make me sad that most of my children seem to have forgotten how to smile."

"Oh, that's okay, I think lil' me kinda smiles for all of us put together, here~" and really, he honestly did. "I got lucky with this whole, er, dramatic event myself and I'm not too bad off. I think I got a lot more reasons to smile now that I'm here though... and the most important reason.. is that I've met you again, mom." dark eyes softened. "I hope I can find someone that pretty and as loving as you are towards her kids, when I end up back in my world. You're the best mom ever." and even though his clan had to be eradicated for revolting, he still held much love for his parents, as he had come to realize here.

She reached out and drew him to her side, arm loosely around him for a moment before she started walking again, hooking arms with him instead. "You flatter me, and I'm not sure I deserve all that sweetheart."

"You do... cause I'm takin none of what I said back. Ever. You deserve all of it and more." a pause, and he briefly claimed the hand he was hooked with, placing a light kiss upon it. "Besides, 'all that' is just a fraction of everything I feel." He did love her, as much as a son could love a mother, as much as she deserved to be loved.

She studied him for a long moment, then squeezed his hand with hers and gave him a faint smile. Some things she just... knew better than to try to explain, especially to her boys. "You are my son, I'd be stunned if you didn't have a strong opinion, hmmm?"

"Missed my chance to stun you? Darn.. aha~" although this sort of stun would have been bad. "Even if I've just chosen to put my goal aside, it feels so nice here...."

Mikoto huffed a soft laugh and reclaimed his arm. "Come on you. Here is... a good place, especially for people like me."
