It's so pretty...

He was dressed up. Where his mother had managed to locate anything to dress him up with on such short notice with he had no idea, but it meant when he took off roaming he was a streak of dark blue and red amid those at the festival as he went here and there, utterly fascinated by the new sights.

He'd been to festivals in Konoha, yes, but those were different. This was -new-.

It also meant he wasn't exactly being the most attentive person ever, and had escaped the people he'd been with. Unintentionally, of course.

"Itachi-kun!" Exasperated, Neji turns his wrist to free his hand from the younger's grip and gives him a scowl, arms crossed over his chest. "Your mother is going to be worried about you if you didn't tell her where you were going. It doesn't matter if you're already a shinobi and can take care of yourself, it's similar to being on a team. It is common courtesy to inform those you are with where you are going."

Crap. She made trouble but... she kind of agreed with Neji... and kind of wanted to defend Itachi at the same time. Since she did disappearing and all other stuff when she was younger. She scowled lightly at Neji for his slightly raised voice and turned to Itachi:"And why didn't you say your mom you are going off on your own, dattebane?"

"Because she wanted to pull me along to buy Kimono." He stared at them both.

"There is nothing wrong with buying kimono." Neji just stares down at him before lifting his arm as if to show his own as an example. "See?"

She smiles and nods, moving to stand in front of Itachi and making a twirl, almost falling because of the shoes, but laughing all the same. "It's really warm, 'tebbane." She pats Itachi's head.

"I'm wearing one too. I wasn't gonna help mom buy -hers- and more for you, or Neji-nii or otouto or big-me. Just no."

Another time, and he might find the way Naruto spun in her kimono endearing, but -- alright, in spite of how he was scolding the younger boy, he still found her actions endearing. Returning his full attention to Itachi, he frowns. "We will get your dango and then find your mother, understand?"

She nods and grabs Itachi's hand:"Of course he does. We don't want Mikoto-san getting angry, do we dattebane?" Mikoto being angry means long, unnoticeable suffering.
She turned to Neji:"Did you see anywhere dango place?"

"You just want me to get stuck giving opinions on things that aren't even for -me-."

"Nonsense. We'll accompany you to her, then once she sees that you are in our care, we'll politely excuse ourselves to go elsewhere. Is that acceptable?"

She smiles nervously:"Ehh-- I still think your mom is scary a bit and I don't think you should anger her, dattebane." Damn, she wished she had mom. She nodded at Neji:"And she won't be angry with you."

He peered up at Naruto for a long moment, then looked over at Neji. "Uh huh."

Neji merely raises an eyebrow at him and continues walking. "Of course she won't. Uchiha-san is not frightening, only stubborn with certain things." Another glance to Itachi. "Like a certain other Uchiha I know."

She laughs and grabs Itachi's hand and turns to Neji:"So! Where's the dango place?"

Itachi narrowed his eyes and resumed hauling them along. "This way."

If Itachi knew where it was, there was no reason to use his Byakugan frivolously. "Have you found anything at the festival for yourself, or is it your mother primarily buying everything?"

If it was some other kid, she would be all 'so cute' but it was Itachi they are talking about. She looked at the vendors curiously while they walked towards dango place.

He shook his head. "I don't want to get anyone bad presents."

He hums quietly and gives a one-shouldered shrug. "But you saw nothing for yourself? Something other than sweet treats."

She grinned:"I saw one of those feathered masks! They looked so nice and cute dattebane," she flailed with her free hand.

"I don't need anything." He shrugged, looking forward.

"So you say," Neji answers impassively, scanning the stalls for one with dango and tea. A glance to Naruto as his lips quirk up. "The masks here seem better suited to obscuring your vision than your identity."

She pouted at Neji:"Ehhh? But they had such nice orange ones, dattebane. Besides! I would poke a hole in it to be able to see, if they didn't make it themselves."

"Then those are decorative, not for wearing."

"What is the point of a decoration that serves no use?" Neji just shakes his head, brow furrowed. It just didn't make sense to him.
