He was dressed up. Where his mother had managed to locate anything to dress him up with on such short notice with he had no idea, but it meant when he took off roaming he was a streak of dark blue and red amid those at the festival as he went here and there, utterly fascinated by the new sights.

He'd been to festivals in Konoha, yes, but those were different. This was -new-.

It also meant he wasn't exactly being the most attentive person ever, and had escaped the people he'd been with. Unintentionally, of course.

"W-What!?" Dammit! She's stuttering now!

He bounced on his heels and stepped in, continuing to stare.

She flailed:"It wasn't a date, dattebane!" Or was it?... it kind of looked like it...

"Are you suuuuure?"

[fire_fox]

"Y-Yeah." No. Definitely not sure. She flushed again at the memory of it.

"You're blushing."

[fire_fox]

"S-So? You are saying embarrassing things, 'tebane..."

He tilted his head and looked at her.

Her blush didn't subside and she just looked away from him and nibbled on squid.

"So does that make him Neji-nii now?"

[fire_fox]

She blinks:"And what was he before?" Wait. What's the difference anyway?

[stillpure]

"Neji-san." He blinked at her. "So yes?"

"You are talking about me." Neji's lips are in a thin line as he approaches from behind Naruto. Though he'd intended the entirety of his attention to be on the younger boy, he was distracted for a moment by her hair, down long her back. An absurd desire to run his fingers through it passed through his mind, but he forced it away to continue staring at Itachi. "What about?"

"GAAH!" She jumped startled, dropping the stick with half-eaten food. Where did he come from!? "N-Neji! Don't sneak up like that dattebane!" Sure she should have paid more attention but Itachi's questions were way too distracting!

"She was saying you're Neji-nii now." Itachi stepped in and peered up at him. "That's all."

"Neji-nii?" he repeats with no small amount of incredulity, giving her a look that suggested she had best explain that right now. "And why would that be?"

She flailed with her hands around:"I-I don't know! He suddenly suggested that you are Neji-nii!" And that's and embarrassing blush on her cheeks. God, this kid...

"Because you're dating and she's Naruto-nee." He looked at Neji, clearly seeing no issue.

Neji didn't often raise his voice outside of battle. This was proving to be an exception as he paused a moment, letting it sink in to make sure he'd heard it correctly as a flush starts to color his cheeks, then he whirls to stare at Itachi.

"What?!"

She was speechless. She didn't know how to handle this situation at all and it seemed that there was no way to convince Itachi otherwise. She just stood there and tried to breathe and to subside her own blush.

He tilted his head to the side, staring up at him. "Did you like someone else instead? Too?"

"No, but-- That isn't important, nor a subject for conversation!" Neji crosses his arms over his chest and stares down at the younger shinobi, completely flustered and at a true loss for words.

[fire_fox]

She, yet again, tries to change the subject:"H-How about we all go for a walk!? It's festival and there should be fireworks too dattebane," she smiles, although very nervous.

"...Dango?" He reached up and took her hand, then leaned and grabbed Neji's too.

...He had a suspicious feeling that he was going to wind up being the one paying for them again, but he just sighs through his nose and allows the younger boy to take his hand, grateful that he seemed to be distracted from that topic. "Very well. Because it is a festival, I will permit you to eat something sweet, but not too much."
